Air Horn Pull Rope

#1 Post by HagenXXV » 20 Sep 2021 19:55

I have decided to create this topic because it seems to me an important detail, an action as simple as pulling a rope has marked indelible memories in the minds of many people fond of American trucks.
<<Ironically, the only brand that decided to invest money for a commemorative video for this ambit was Mack, but in the game, this truck does not have the lanyard either  , someone reported it as a mistake but no official response in SCS QA.>>

Fortunately the Cascadia, 49X (AND LT in 23/09/2021) have the rope to pull the air horn, although it is static and has no physics of movement, SCS is grateful to have added this accessory, however I am left with no taste for the rest of truck models, evidently the 3D modeling process is very complex and require editing each truck just for this detail seems unnecessary to me because thanks to the DLC cab accessories, what you can see is that you can add plenty of hanging accessories, I have read PDF manuals, asked truckers who have YouTube channel and everything indicates that it is an accessory that comes in 99% of American trucks, regardless of whether the cab comes with air horns exposed or installed on the engine hood, all trucks leave the factory with this accessory, Volvo is the exception in this story, I will insert the official image of each truck cab we have in the game where you can see the accessory in real life, any input is appreciated and I hope someone from SCS will read this and add this accessory with nodes inside the cab, I think it is more difficult to make a hanging excavator than a simple cord with neutral color, as always, it is not a criticism, it is feedback for SCS.

Yep, some trucks in game have it, some missed, but i think that air horn pull rope must be in all trucks. ;)

If animations (indicators, lights, etc) can have sounds linked to their actions, then a custom animation can trigger a horn sound that can even be customised from the soundref statement.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

why not go a step furder.. when you press the key to sound the airhorn the rope goes down a bit like its getting pulled...

but i know mercedes has a switch option on the dash where you can switch between a car like horn and an airhorn
and other trucks might have an auxilary switch lext to the tachograph or MC27 or somewhere else on the dash...

but i dont think SCS can go OMSI style where you can manually flick switches and pull airhorns etc when you look at it with the mouse or VR
i think it will be a lot of work if they did....

whahah good one.. had one on an older daf xf105 euro 5.. i really needed to yank the rope.. close to breaking it to get a little bit of sound from the air horn... wasnt that impressive.. but it wasnt used for a long time....
still hate my boss.. but loved the truck.. it pulled hard..

Sorry, that's what I meant. The key press triggers the animation which references the sound file. Same way the trailer and parking brake knobs work.
A handy modder could do it too.

American trucks have a pull cord for the airhorn ("highway horn"), but the car horn ("city horn") is sounded by pushing on the center of the steering wheel, just like in a car.

mercedes had both the airhorn and the car horn when you push the centre of the steeringwheel either.. but they got a switch on the dash so you can alter between the 2...

With yesterday's update, they added the horn pull rope for the International LT, I'm falling more in love with SCS every day 😍
