I have created a new sign in Blender and it shows up perfectly in-game. Now I want to make it an editable sign, so I changed the attribute to "true". However when I try to create a new template using this sign model, it eventually crashes saying there are no editable areas.
I am at a total loss on how to proceed.

Re: Help with sign templates
Does your sign mesh have a hookup pointer for the editable area?

Re: Help with sign templates
I think so, I modified an existing sign. There is a locator called ml6, is that it?

Re: Help with sign templates
That should be it. Is that referenced in the config for the sign?

Re: Help with sign templates
Sorry - I'm at work and at the time was on the road. Now have access to my signs files (tho not the game) so we'll see how we go. I'll cover what i can - just skip the bits you already know.
Your sign def file should be in def/world
As an example of a file, here's one I prepared earlier
Now in the blender file you need a locator - in your example ml6. In blender you need to ensure that locator references a hookup for the size you need. This specifies the editable area for the sign. To do this go to the locator settings and find a hookup named sign.xxy (width by height - whatever size you need). Make sure the hookup library is referenced in your library or it won't show here. Once it's referenced you export and it should show up.
Hope that helps. I'm flying a bit blind as I don't have Blender here to go off so if anyone wants to correct me feel free.

Code: Select all
sign_model : sign.nathan18 {
model_desc: "/model/sign/navigation/n_jct_sign_1.pmd"
model_coll: "/model/sign/navigation/n_jct_sign_1.pmc"
distance_type: 2
category: "editable area"
sign_name: "n_jct_sign_1"
dynamic: false
editable: true
mass: 500.0
}

Re: Help with sign templates
I don't know how to do any of that in Blender.
Edit: I figured it out, I was looking in the wrong place for the SCS Objects.
Thanks for your help
