@IonutL: I was unable to sell them because ATS was being crash-happy while in 1.28 beta, thus preventing me from doing anything at all. Even disabling all the mods didn't help much either.

Those are the risks when you want to try the beta version, mods can and sometimes will crash the game. What i can suggest is downgrade to 1.6 version from Steam beta tab, and find a save that doesn't crash the game. Then sell all truck mods and accessories if you have them. Upgrade back to stable 1.28 version and see what happens.

Things that could help:

Exclude or rename your mods folder, in order to make your game don't see it at all (even disabled some mods can affect your profile if they remain in the folder)

Go for the backup profile folders and take the profile inside the folder from the last 1.6.x you have, copy and paste the backup profile folder into the main PROFILES folder.

Start your game and see if it helps, maybe give you message for missing mods.

After some thinking and playing ETS2 for me to get my mind clear, it looks like your method has worked, TarsoMagno. Even though I have to start over from scratch in ATS, it seems that its a lesson I had to learn, especially when there are other authors who abandon their works than updating them. Thank you for your help. :)

Have been there with mods ruining my profiles.

Some mods take you "out of the safety envelope" and sort of turns your game into a time bomb.

Sad to hear you had to restart from scratch.

Sounds like the crashing of 1.28 Beta with mods was never fixed B4 it's release. 1.28 should never have been released until it was fixed and compatible with all mods.

@TarsoMagno: Yeah its a shame. But, at least I have a new beginning for ATS, as I haven't reached level 50 like in ETS2 heh.

@GT182: Yep that's pretty much the main issue. But since the damage has been done as a result of obsolete mods, I had to start over from scratch.

Ok, so you are saying that MOD-caused crashes are up to SCS?, i think you missed the perspective since Modders need the updates to be released in order to update the mod to the new version, and mods should always be used under personal responsibility. 1.28 open beta was one of the biggest in duration so, modders had even more time to work on updates for their mods until final public build get released.

99% of the time your mods work after an update doesn't mean SCS is responsible for the crashes when they occur.

if I may come with an advice here. I have several profiles, one for each map and another profile only for testing new or updated mods. separately I have a structure of folders by game version and subfolders by date. I save a copy of my profiles (in total about 30 Mb) about once a week or in case of large modification (e.g. updating all trailers mods) if I want one day to revert back to an older version I have my profiles from that version. or in case of non fixable crash I just retrieve the latest back-up...
to save an apparently lost profile it may be sufficient also to launch an earlier game save (that can be also an automatic save) be aware that a profile saved in 1.28 (even beta) will no longer work in 1.27, if you want to use that profile back in 1.27, you must select a game save from an earlier date.
