ATS 32 bit support
ATS 32 bit support
So, when exactly did SCS pull the plug on the "unsupported 32bit beta" on Steam? And if they pulled the plug, why leave it up? Yes I get 32 bit is old and outdated and everything is 64bit now, but why do something and not make an announcement? Just tried to start my game up and it said I require a 64 bit version of Windows.......since when?

Re: ATS 32 bit support
They never pulled the plug on 32 bit support for ATS, as it was never officially supported. The 32bit client that's available when selecting betas has always has been unsupported. The reason for this was that having 32 and 64 bit support requires having a larger support staff.
Aside from that, you should have gone to 64 bit Windows at least 10 years ago.

Shir, I understand all of that, I'm curious as to why suddenly, after putting 300+ hours into the game with the 32 bit beta, it now flashes that it is unsupported and will not let me start the game at all.

I'm afraid only a developer like Max can give you a meaningful answer. I'm also afraid you are not going to like that answer.
I have approximate knowledge of many things

To make sure that we don't have to make compromises down the line, stuck forever with a guarantee to support a build of the game with 32-bit limitations, we have decided to officially only support 64-bit Windows/Linux/Mac.
Re: ATS 32 bit support
Though I did that 11 years ago, I'm aware that there were plenty of 32-bit laptops sold many years after. Yes, these aren't very good platforms for this kind of games anyway, but some people don't have much of a choice.ShirBlackspots wrote: ↑13 Aug 2017 01:41 Aside from that, you should have gone to 64 bit Windows at least 10 years ago.

@hkkane: I remember reading that. I understood that the 32-bit beta was unsupported at the time, however it worked.
@everyone: Guys, I get it, I seem like a tool that doesn't know how to upgrade my OS, or someone who is ungrateful to SCS. I'm neither of those two. I'm currently unable to upgrade my OS, and I'm incredibly grateful that they even released a 32-bit beta. All I'm asking for is an answer from either a developer or someone like 50Keda who works for SCS who would know when they blocked the 32-bit version on Steam.
I don't need to be constantly told "Well, upgrade your system, derp"

Yes but I've been told before on other sites as well Reef, and I apologize. I hit my breaking point last night.

Re: ATS 32 bit support
There are a lot of people here who do that. If you did not specifically ask "Should I upgrade my Operating System?" when asking for advice about your computer, you should just ignore anyone who says anything about that.
