Game progress loss

#1 Post by luibee » 28 Mar 2021 02:30

Hi guys, please help

I just re-install my Windows. I have backed up my Documents\ATS\ folder. I copied the folder to the new document folder. But now, the game wont load my recent game, instead it loads some save game from last year May - which I think the manually save.

In the document folder, I can still see the autosave folders. What should I do?

Thank you.

Check the dates on the folder you copied in (specifically the files in the profiles folder). Were the files recent or older?

This assumes you aren't using steam cloud, which saves the files elsewhere.

Thanks for your advice.

I believe the date is recent. Please see the attached photo.

the game loads my progress in last May (level 17).

Is there anyway to load the save in the recent folder? Btw, I think I might turned off the steam cloud save.

Thank you.

Load aa saved point and tick the autosave on
If the game finds the correct documents folder it should also see old saves
Also check the file time stamp on the game log file, this will give you a hint that the games can see your restored documents folder
Also pleasecheck access rights on the restored files

Oh, After ticked the autosave I can see the autosave files, but they are still old ones

Now I think the new save folder is else where, not at documents\ATS anymore.

edit: i was wrong, I deleted the files in documents, start the game, then the game created save files in Documents folder. But the game loads the same old files. I now have no idea.

Folder is called ..\Documents\American Truck Simulator
Current saves are stored in ..\Documents\American Truck Simulator\profiles\5065746572205B4147484C5D\save

The problem could be this folder name "5065746572205B4147484C5D" as the game will generate the profile folder name from various criterias
Sorry I do not know the set of rules

I have used Steam Cloud for my game progress since it was possible

Profile folder name == profile name, encoded in hex

In the example above, the profile is named Peter [AGHL]
