Button as clutch

#1 Post by xDope » 31 Oct 2018 01:27

Disclamer before I even ask: Yes I know this is not how a true clutch works in real life.

Anyways, I would like to know if it's possible to map a button to the clutch similar to how Forza does it. For example I would like to map the A button on a xbox controller to clutch and use the B and X buttons for shift up and shift down respectively. I tried modifying the controls.sii file before and it didn't work, so I am assuming this a game limitation (hopefully not)? Thanks you guys in advance for the help!

Maybe it can be done, but i don't see any practical use of this feature. It doesn't offer the same sensation as feeling and feeding the truck's clutch which you get with the pedals and it's one more button to push compared to the automatic/real automatic gearboxes.

IMO it's the closest I can get with just a controller setup. Just can't find a way to make it work.

What is your purpose on that?

Do you want to emulate an h-shifter on a joypad?

An h-shifter with only two buttons to up/down shift. I'm not finding much enjoyment out of semi-automatic anymore after grinding for hours on Forza with a manual w/clutch on a joypad.

clutch only takes analog input, not digital one

you could try to edit the controls.sii and add the input for A to the clutch, but if the game will recognize it i dont know

It does but I wanted to use the clutch to somewhat mimic a h-shifter.
