Your mirrors should be adjusted so that you can just see the sides of your trailer clearly but most of the view is of the roadway. You need the widest possible view behind you, especially when reversing.
The bigger they are, the harder they haul!

They are also much lower too, I like to see a bit of ground if possible, thats how I use them in real life.

I point all side mirrors, small or big, as far down as possible, since I need to know what obstacles I may have to avoid while maneuvering. For orientation, the big ones show just a bit of the end of my chassis. The small ones are as much to the outside as possible, because they cover the most width that way and the inside overlaps with the big mirrors anyway.
