Mountains in game ?

#1 Post by GeorgeJames93 » 24 Oct 2021 20:54

I have all of the dlc's and I am impatiently awaiting the state of Texas. I am looking for some of the steepest grades and mountains in the game. I want to take some heavy loads up them. I am sorry if this is posted twice I made a post and I don't think it went through because I can't find

You wait for Texas to drive over mountains?
Existing states have plenty of them, while Texas isn't exactly known for mountains although it definitely has some.

Texas is not completely fat. It does have some what mountains in the south, but they are not really that steep. But there is some beautiful places to see and visit. Lots of history in Texas...

After some googling I see Texas actually has a higher mountain than any in Australia, not that that's saying much

I'd say Colorado has the best mountains in the current maps.

If you want mountais, go to Colorado. This will probably remain true for the rest of the game's development. The East Coast and Montana offer a chance for more mountains. Maybe as good as Colorado, but I don't think they will be better. Depending on how SCS handles the density of the eastern states, we might get much more drivable mountain at that point.

I love elevation changes myself and I was on a mission to get some nice elevations in the game. I talked about it a lot. Colorado finally brought what I was looking for

Colorado is the best in regards to elevations
US-550 - from Durango to Montrose
US-40 - Berthoud Pass
US-160 - Wolf Creek Pass
CO-139 - has a pass South of Rangeley
US-34 - Rocky Mountain National Park

Washington
There's one I love in Washington. I can't remember if its US-2 or WA-20. I think its the later of the two. But it gave my truck a nice workout. Unfortunately, it wasn't much.

Nevada/Oregon
NV-140/OR-140 right around the border, there is a nice one.

Wyoming
Has a few but I can't remember much since its so new

Idaho
It has a few. White Bird Hill is a disappointment though.
ID-75 has a nice one.

Utah
has one nice one that I can remember. I think its US-89 heading back towards I-15 as you come down that that hill with the one curve in it.

Oregon
Cabbage Hill and a little bit on US-395 Southbound from Pendleton.

California
The rebuild roads have some elevation to it. I think it was CA-299 Eastbound though. There should be more coming as more gets reskinned.

New Mexico.
I think its US-64 that has a nice climb as you head East to I-25.

Now these are all that I can remember by memory. I'm sure there are a few more. Montana and Texas are unknowns at this point. Montana should have the last of the Western mountain range. Texas will dip into it in the far West.

US64 in New Mexico is nice, between Raton and Farmington. I've been on this route a couple times in reality, and several in-game. Quite a fun little road.

Especially when hauling one of the long Special Transport loads from Farmington.
