Re: Wishlists Megathread
Smoke would be a modder's thing, SCS will never make it part of the game because today's trucks don't smoke. SCS does not make classic trucks, that's up to the modders again. I've seen a smoke mod, it's very unrealistic because the truck smokes the same amount sitting idling or going down the road. Very corny.
Re: Wishlists Megathread
You've seen smoke because the truck has issues. If its a modern day truck that passes inspection with a proper runnin system, you won"t see this. An old truck or pre DEF truck, yes, you can see this.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Also keep in mind that some people remove the DEF system from new trucks in order to purposely create smoke, even though it's unlawful to do so in most states. That could have been what you were seeing.
Re: Wishlists Megathread
Unlawful to remove DEF or unlawful to remove DEF to create smoke? I've noticed a few places have been removing DEF from trucks because of the following 1) it doesn't save that much fuel. 2) Sucks the power out of the engine causing more fuel to be used on hills 3) kills bees 4) is extremely expensive to fix when it breaks/ causes too many frequent issues once it starts to break.
I have to agree with the others that modern trucks don't smoke. The only time I drove a truck that smoke was because I had a blown head gasket and coolant was leaking into the oil causing the truck to smoke.

DEF (AdBlue in Europe) isnt made to save fuel, it is made to reduces NOx numbers produced when burning Diesel and is just Urea mixed with Water

I guess I was misinformed. I always thought it was for both fuel efficiency and a cleaner exhaust, not just a cleaner exhaust

Yeah well you obviously never seen one loaded to the balls taking off in second gear and matting it right off the start

Re: Wishlists Megathread
It's unlawful to remove the DEF system in most states, regardless of if you want to make smoke or not. Many states have a law against tampering with emissions equipment on motor vehicles. Other states require emissions inspections in addition to the annual safety inspections, and a vehicle with a DEF delete would likely fail these inspections.
Re: Wishlists Megathread
Ahhh, but IRL you can buy a glider kit and as long as you put in an older engine, transmission, or rear drive line... 2 of 3. So you can have an engine that doesn't need DEF. And as such it probably could smoke. Owner operators do that. So don't say all new trucks don't smoke. They look new but have the pre DEF drivelines. And to add to that, they can use a paper log book instead of the electric log book. Tho I believe in the past year or so buying glider kits was stopped. So with all the new trucks SCS is using, they're required to have the DEF system and electric log books in them. But they don't. You are all illegal on the highways without them, unless you're running mods of the old pre DEF trucks.
They don't remove the DEF system from new trucks bought from dealers..... as said it's against the law. And believe me DOT checks. And it's also checked when they go thru inspection for renewing the registration in all States.
BTW Bob123412, if you live up on the north end of I-95, you should have seen all of the Anchor clanker carhaulers that smoked back in the 60s up thru to the 90s.. if you're old enough.

Iirc, they are even cracking down on the number of glider kits allowed.
