SCS recently seemed to go for a more realistic way - implementing more stuff based on real things, manufacturers, events, and so on. One of the officially noted goals is to tighten the relations to truck manufacturers and the industry. Flashing amber lighting is definitely connected to the trucking industry.
I know that lightbars and LED lights and so on are already suggested. As far as I searched, there was never a real company mentioned with all that. With that being said, I would like to throw a great company which could be perfect for another DLC - Whelen.
Based in Chester, Connecticut, Whelen is one of the leading international companies for warning and emergency lights and sirens as well as various illumination lights and aviation lights. My idea/ suggestion is pretty simple - just contact Whelen and try it if the time is right. I'm not sure if SCS already looked into that type of industry which is why I'm suggesting it. Here's some deeper explanation and thinking about all the possibilities.
The current state:
We currently only have 2 boring rotating lights in ATS which you can't even place yourself somewhere you want.. no.. they're bound to 2 spots on the roof - sometimes hidden by other objects such as the wind deflectors.
Requirement for the DLC:
I kinda hope that SCS is or that SCS will work on flashing LED lights in future. They're improving things from time to time. Such as the light flares with 1.28 and I assume that LED lights will come sooner or later. My idea is built on the thought, that LED lights will appear in the game someday.
The actual idea and all the possibilities - experience the Whelen awesomeness
As I said, I speculate that flashing amber LED lights appear in the game someday, just don't know when. Based on that I think that the player will have the possibility to probably buy LED lights or even lightbars in the base game. Here comes the DLC part of it. Of course one question is, does it come as a DLC or not? It's arguable and at the end, it's not up to us anyways but I would definitely pay for it if you ask me.
Back to topic - Whelen offers a huge variety of products. Most importantly for this idea are lightbars, beacons, flashers as well as illumination products and dash lights.
Overview:
- Product variety below - most important are the lightbars, beasons and flashers (especially M-series lights) as well as illumination lights.
- Different places to mount them
Whelen lights can be mounted all across the truck. SCS could have lots of room to think where spots for the lights could be. I would definitely go for somewhere on the roof and the grill. The side and rear would be great as well.
- Color of the lights
Whelen lights are available in different colors. Most important for ATS are amber and white. The player could simply choose which color each light should have and if it should have...
- dual color lighting
Some Whelen lights and lightbars give you the option of dual-color lighting - meaning that 1 part of a LED light is able to display 2 or 3 colors, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boIII_R3JMY - the player could choose the flash pattern btw.
- flash patterns
All Whelen lights offer a few or a huge load of different flash patterns. The player could be able to choose a flash pattern for the lights of his choice. - Synchronizing the flash patterns
It would be cool if at least some of the lights could be synchronized. For example if the player could install 4 M-series lights in the grill just like in the link. Imagine that if you had 2 white and 2 amber lights
Gives you quite some possibilities when thinking about it- Illumination lights

Lightbars should definitely come to ATS someday when LED lighting is in the game. Whelen has a long tradition of awesome lightbars which are very popular on trucks as well.

The following lightbars are most interesting for the game in my mind:
- Freedom (largest lightbar by the size and brightness); - Legacy - great dual color lightbar; - Liberty II - the Liberty I can be seen on many heavy haul trucks
Beacons:
Most interesting in my mind would be the L31; L32; L41 and Rota Beams. These are regular LED beacons.
