Complete routes, not segments, when planning map.

#1 Post by natvander » 23 Nov 2017 23:49

At the moment there are several routes (primarily US Highways) which are presented in segments, with sometimes considerable gaps between. It seems a bit odd for example, to drive from Yuma to Winnemucca taking I8; CA111; I10; US95; I40; US93; Las Vegas Mess; US95; US6; US385; I580; I40, when US95 connects the two cities.

Or Show Low to Clovis - should be US60 for the whole route (shared for a section with I25) but we need to take US60; I25; US380; US54; US60.

Las Cruces to Roswell should be US70. We need to take US70; US380; US70/380 or US70; US82; US285

And I won't go into the section of California between Bakersfield and Sacramento.

I know the map scale does limit what can be portrayed and there needs to be some artistic license, but I do believe that there could be some better planning when mapping. Especially when you consider how long some of these highways are (US60 is 4,297km, US50 4,856km, US95 2,853km), it would be a real shame and a bit strange to have to travel that route a segment at a time as the route isn't complete.
Never argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I agree. I love seeing how far I've come on a single road.

Some routes portions could be extend and others because of 1:20 map scale and frame rate optimization probadly would not do it.
