Flatbed cargo DLC
Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
@nater6540 I'd say that nuclear cargo can definitely be part of heavy haul. Here are a few things for nuclear waste here viewtopic.php?p=1324874#p1324874.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

I think you might have meant Three Mile Island, which had a loss of coolant accident (which *almost* turned into a meltdown) due to operator error?Larry71490 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020 20:11 Yucca Mountain would have to added to Nevada for a nuclear run to work. Use to be a nuclear plant in PA called Seven Mile Island but that has been closed for years due to a meltdown.
Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
No, he meant Yucca Mountain. Per the link I posted above, all nuclear waste travels to Yucca Mountain for storage. No other place in the US handles this. No Yucca Mountain, no nuclear plants in ATS. I believe ETS2 has them so hopefully its only a matter of time before ATS gets it. Very unique cargo and ATS needs all the cargo it can get. The more unique that stands out, the better. Hauling something different from time to time is a key to longevity. Per the map in the link I provided above, there are 11 shipping sites including Texas. Most waste is hauled by rail. But there are 2 truck routes available in the US. We need Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska in place to make truck routes valid. Nuclear plants are a lot more popular East of Texas so it will be awhile before we'd see a major industry for it. But I'd say start it when Nevada gets rebuild and just add to it. When Nevada gets rebuilt, hopefully any thing missing from the current Nevada can get added and Yucca Mountain would have to be one of them.

Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
ETS2 has nuclear powerplants in the Vive la France and Beyond the Baltic Sea maps, but there aren't any cargoes specific to that industry. The power plants just send a receive the generic cargoes such as steel beams, bulldozers, empty pallets, etc.
Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
That's better than what ATS has. These plants are in no mans land and the US has plenty of that which means there is plenty of that in ATS. If both games are said to be equal, make them equal when they can be. Doing this makes developing them even easier....both games can benefit from prefabs and cargo. Both games will always have their exclusives but for the most part, both games can share more than what they do. SCS can easily look at the link I provided and make more cargo that brings that industry to life. There isn't a lot hazmart cargo and such cargo does not involve licensing or copyright issues. A half dozen container type models and call it a day. 3-4 large containers 2-3 smaller containers would justify cargo.

Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
@flight50 All wastes goes to Yucca like you said. But Three Mile Island is the disaster I was refering to.
Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
Hmmm. I wonder why I ignored the second part of that sentence, lol. Now it makes sense that it was Three Mile, lol. At any rate, I'm more focused on cargo vs a disaster. What happened in 1979 is not my concern but what can happen in current time is getting cargo from such a depot if SCS provided it. Nuclear power plants are typically isolated from the public. Surely some of these are remote enough that would be worked into a 1:20 scale in even the existing states that we do have.

Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
Are there dosimetrists at the nuclear plants who check outbound vehicles? It would be interesting to see that. You stop near the barrier, the dosimetrist walks along the truck and, if everything is normal, you are released. Or does this only happen in accidents?

Found some more cargo to add to this list.

like to explore new areas of maps for both ATS and ETS2.

Re: Flatbed cargo DLC
It's becoming clearer and clearer that we need more cargo. If in game you are based out of Denver and you run flatbed, you better LOVE hauling lumber because that is pretty much all you're going to get to haul. Same goes for running articulated lowboys and only getting fork lifts outside of Denver International. That's why I moved operations to Alamosa at least there is variety there.
In a world full of swift drivers, I'm an O/O.
