Bigger HP Engines and truck customizations for Heavy Cargo and Special Transport DLC

#1 Post by FBTHOU13 » 15 Oct 2020 06:04

We really need bigger horse power engines and more truck customizations in the game. Like what ETS2 has with 3 axles at the back. I'm hauling a log stacker in the 1.39 beta and is a pain in the ass to get it up hills. I want this to be for the Heavy Cargo and Special Transport DLC.

SCS won't add bigger power engines if the truck manufacturers doesn't offer them with their models ;)
And to be honest,2779 Nm/2050 lb-ft(because yes, torque is what matters) is way enough for what's offered with Heavy Haul and Special Transport DLCs.But that's just my opinion.

In real life 2250 lbs torque is most you can get from the factory.

What is lacking is more ratios such as 3.70s, 3.58s etc. That makes a huge difference too in real life.

Why people keep asking for higher horsepower engines in ATS just because ETS2 has them baffles me. If one does their research on every North American manufacturer's website, they will see what the engine options are. If you want more power, use a mod. SCS will not make an out of spec truck to accomodate people in such as way. People scream realism since it has the word "simulator" in it but out of spec stats are not realistic.

@flight50 I agree that making engines with more horsepower than is available from dealer specs shouldn't be necessary. The problem I see is that the amount of horsepower/torque that is given in the specs doesn't seem to be reflected properly in the game. Getting bogged down to 30mph or more going up a slight incline should not be happening with the most powerful engine with an 18spd in the game. IRL you would be considered a hazard on an interstate with a 70mph limit where the minimum speed is normally 50mph or 40mph in a 60mph zone or traveling in any speed zone where you are impeding the normal flow of traffic. I think for HH the torque spec should be raised somewhere close to 3000 Lb/Ft torque or if there's a way to lower the effect that incline has in game that would work also.

I can agree with that. When I encounter inclines, I've had to go down as low as 3L. That's a bit lower than what I've seen some of the real life truckers do. The saying is, go down a grade 1 gear lower than the gear it takes to climb it. But that's real life. ATS it seems like 3-4 gears difference. Also in ATS, you have to select the right gear during your climb. In real life, you must select the right gear before your climb. It would be nice to better match real life but I don't think we'll get there in vanilla ATS. The truck should struggle up inclines vs flat grades but overpowered engines for me isn't the answer.

@flight50 you should never have to go that low in real life. 6L or 6H at the most.

Yeah that sounds more like it @Larry71490. We can only wish I guess, lol. The absolute lowest that is feasible in my book in ATS would be 5L. If we have to use the range selector (which I do often), there lies an issue. I do use Kriech's sound mod though and I believe the 3406E that I use is either 500 or 550 ponies. I don't know if any of that matters at all. Even before I started using his mod, I was using the 625hp King of the Hill and I still had to grab pretty low. Maybe I need to go try a few trucks out with different motors to check. Since I only use the W900 with one engine, I don't know if any changes have been made lately.

For me, once I find a setup, I don't change it. I don't entertain anything else unless there is another option I am interested in. So far, that only option is overfloater's k100e.

In real life rear end ratios matter. In heavy hauling you want 3.90s or 4.11s in ATS we got highway ratios not meant for heavy hauling.
