Re: Should miles be added to the distance signs?
The better option would be to just use the distance measuring tool in the map editor.
Re: Should miles be added to the distance signs?
Still a lot of manual work to do entire map
best option *god forbid Max from seeing this* would be to code a way to measure the distance and calculate from the sign to the city center assuming the stated cities are only the ones in game otherwise scenic cities on signs would need an hidden city marker in the map just to calculate that distance.

Sweet
This signature virus has been spliced with the Fundementalism-B virus to create a new more contagious strain. Please look for it infecting a signature near you.

Would be great!

do you know that delay that sometimes happen when you are loading the game andi t is saying "recomputing navigation, it could take a while". in ETS it could take quite long although its superefficient parallel algorithm (one that truly use any core you give to it). and those are just distances between cities. do you have any idea how long it would be to compute this for every sign? i do not.Tarso wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021 20:46 Still a lot of manual work to do entire map

just my $0.02, feel free to ignore me completely i do not want to derail the thread in any way ..
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

I don't even want to think about thousands of signs and agree with you, btw are your coins made of lead? Those 2 cents weight a lot

Distance/mileage signs should always be used not only in ATS. There are very useful things for a game and should not have been avoided under no circumstances, depending mainly on game update. I am not only one person, who really needs them.

personally, distance signs with numbers have been a memorable thing in my life. i wouldnt use them for distance-tracking or odometering, but to instead estimate how much time there was going to be left until the destination was reached. it would be so great to see them. ive already noticed that scs has a handful in both games, mainly in dlc areas. on the other hand, i do understand why arrows are used.

I voted yes, because they would seem more more "real" even if not accurate, but I do completely understand SCSs position as @natvander mentioned in one of his posts. What we have with 1.41 is a good middle ground... but at the end of the day I personally would prefer numbers to arrows, but it's not the end of the world.
