Automatic Lights

#1 Post by Breakl00se » 16 Oct 2021 21:20

I have one simple question. Why do automatic lights not exist in any of the trucks? I think it should be added, I'm surprised I noticed it now.

Well, the only "automatic lights" that I am aware of are DLRs (daytime running lights.) Even then, they're not designed to assist the driver in seeing, but rather help other motorists identify if a vehicle is active or not. (This is according to Wikipedia, so if I am incorrect, it is entirely my fault for relying on Wikipedia.) If you're referring to interior lighting, there is really no reason for it because we "never" exit our vehicles. As for headlights or fog lights, I don't believe automatic ones actually exist. If they do, then I've really never seen them.

Automatic lights have a sensor in your interior rearview mirror (facing the glass) and based on how much light is hitting this sensor it switches between DLR and low beams. Picture going into a tunnel during a summer day - outside there's plenty of light so DLRs are in use. Once inside the tunnel, there's not enough light so the BCM (usually) switches to low beams.

Huh, I was not aware of that.
Of course, I don't even know if that is something we have in North America, or if the truck manufactures here even invest in that type of technology.

Automatic headlight sensor does indeed exist on many newer truck models, in real life but not in the game

I'm specifically talking about the automatic lights which turn on around 7 pm or 8 pm when it's getting dark out, not DLRs.

there are no timed lights, they turn on the moment the sensors deem it necessary, some vehicles might turn on later then others but the light intensity is what Triggers it, not time or else it wouldnt work for tunnels, and almost every modern car should have this equipped by default nowdays
