Out of Production Truck Wishlist
Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
There's some differences I see, but its still the same squared up nose as well as chassis it appears. The nose for me is the identity of a truck, not the cab. Cabs change and can be over used but a nose is the bread and butter of its identity. The classic conventional trucks noses don't change much at all. The headlights to me would be the biggest difference with that identity for the nose.

Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
I feel like the W900 in game already is decent just needs a bit of polish. There are far more unique trucks to be had, at least the way I see it. The only thing I'd like is a flat top 42 inch sleeper on the W900.
Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
I spend most of my time in the cab so the dashboard and the view over the hood is more important to me than what the truck looks like from the outside, but we all have our preferences. I don't know why but I don't really like the design of the interior of the w900 we have, even if the textures were fixed.

That’s an interesting opinion as I think the W900 interior is one of the better ones we have, especially from the first gen trucks. I don’t like the outside or that stupid template so never use it
Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
I have zero issues with the current W900. I just want a light bar kit and grille stobes and I'm good. I got my 8x4 finally. So tuning pack is pretty much necessary for the classic Paccar trucks.

The current w900 we have with a sleeper cab feels like your driving a huge bus, I think it need more chassis and sleepers options!

Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
Unless we got a brand new model, more chassis and sleepers is perhaps a no go though for the W900 or any of the first 5 truck models.

Re: Out of Production Truck Wishlist
I'm not a fan of the classics, but I definitely see the appeal to the larger community. Not onoy do you have life-long truckers who have spent many years in these old trucks, but you also have their relatives who have memories those trucks bring back, plus the crowd who initially gained an intrest in trucking due to the old movies with these classic trucks as a focus.
Making them paid is a double-edged blade...
Yes, it bring in a profit and cover the cost of development, but it may also be viewed as a start to making all trucks paid (not to mention risk turning into the DLC hell that is Train Simulator). There is also the issue of reference material, mention earlier. SCS won't be able to get these nearpy as accurate as they can for the modern ones, at least not as easily or cheaply. People might view it as paying for something of less quality than the free alternative of the newer trucks (an issue we already see in paid truck mods).
I'm not saying SCS shouldn't consider making them paid, I'm just saying there are risks to this.
I'd much rather see paid truck DLC than paint job DLC any day, though.
As for a free demo of these trucks, one possible solution might be to make them freely available for quick jobs, subhect to the randomized market. Alternatively, if modding the likelihood of jobs with a specific truck becomes an issue, External Market could be an option. Allow people to take random jobs with DLC trucks they haven't bought, but in order to use it all the time on any job (or free roam), they need to buy the DLC.
Sure, going into the game files to maoe the models available is possible here, but we already see this issue with things like event rewards, where people make them into a mod so those who didn't earn or buy them could still use them. There is nothing stopping anyone from doing this still, but SCS has prohibited such mods, and that seems to be enough for them. Maybe the same is true for classic truck DLC, maybe not.

Freightliner Classic XL, old Cascadia and Pet 379 - it's all I need!
I think that people who have been playing this game for a long time are ready to pay for each new truck. This won't be a problem.
