Let's hear them.

Me: Building stuff.

Finally got around to building a proper workbench.

I do scale modelling mostly 1/48 aircrafts, in-between sometimes a 1/32 aircraft. I might try a 1/350 warships sometimes, there are quite some nice ones out there.

One of mine is photography. A couple weeks ago I went into the woods and caught some birds:

A kingfisher. I watched it dive near a beaver lodge, but I didn't see any beavers.

A cedar waxwing.

A red winged blackbird bathing.

There was also an air show going on nearby, so I got some metal birds too:

They came very close with this pass.

Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

A Nikon D5200 DSLR with a Nikkor 55-200mm lens. Most of these images weren't just captured with the optical zoom though, but with digital zoom, meaning zooming in as far as I could with the lens wasn't enough, so I trimmed the photo down to just the subject, zooming in even further at the cost of a slight drop in image quality.

Here's an example of this: here is a "raw photo" of a cedar waxwing, with Lake Superior and the South Range of Wisconsin in the distance. The bird is just a speck though, so with digital zoom I got this image from the bigger one.

I only just realized I could do this to increase my zoom, and this isn't even the highest quality setting or image size on my camera, so you can bet I'll take more photos like these. I'm planning on going to Hawk Ridge and Brighton Beach to see if I can get some ships coming through the canal.

Photography is my prime hobby. Not the best photographer out there but I definitely love what I do. You can find my work here on Instagram.

A derived form of that is vehicle spotting (specifically bus spotting). An abridged collection of such pictures can be found here!

Also, I love upcycling stuff like cardboard boxes and plastic bottles, and also building things from scratch, like a wire bin made out of PVC board or Pen holder, Laptop stands out of liquid detergent bottles. Unfortunately, I have to give away most of such stuff when I had to move to a different place.

I used to be a Boy Scout, which was fun at first, then it immediately went downhill when transferred over from one troop to another, so I left, and I’m glad I did, because their parent organization, Scouts BSA, formerly known as Boy Scouts of America, got dragged into an ugly lawsuit for reasons I would rather keep to myself, and then had to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, after the lawsuit apparently went horribly wrong, so by leaving, I managed to avoid that entire mess and the drama that ensued because of it.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is when an organization or business still exists but has to restructure themselves to stay in business, Chapter 11 bankruptcy is when you completely cease to exist, for those curious

I was a Boy Scout too, in Troop 9 of Voyageurs Area Council. I only made it as far as Star before I quit.

Have you ever been to Okpik (Northern Tier High Adventure) or Tomahawk Scout Reservation, by chance?
