Seems like you may need to update your drivers or reinstall them since it seems to be a NVIDIA error, but also there is no official support for this game anymore, so don't expect any bug fixes or updates.

If you are having trouble with installing a driver you will have to manually delete the NVIDIA Corp. folder that should be in the programs folder, DO NOT MANUALLY DELETE THE DRIVER FOLDERS (I don't know what will happen if you do, but I would rather not find out since my NVIDIA card is intergrated laptop crap (now pretty much retired) and I had a very hard time trying to install a driver after deleting the last driver, installer program would not recognize the card, but it was probably because it was a laptop card with a possibly slowed down clock, but as of now I am on a desktop)

I had the same error message last time I tried to install 18WOS ET2 after upgrading to Win10 64bit (it was working fine on Win7 64bit). I actually never bothered to try to figure out a solution. The steam system requirements page does say it needs XP/Vista/7, so I am inclined to think this is a compatibility issue with Win10.

Have you tried compatibility mode?

I never got the game so I wouldn't know.

I hope this isn't classified as hijacking the thread as it is the same issue that I hope to assist in resolving. Yes, I have tried all compatibility options and I have tried both the latest drivers and old drivers as clean installations.

I have another system running Win10 32bit with a GeForce 210 and the game launches fine in that system, so I'm going to try to troubleshoot this further over the next few days, as time permits.

For the record, the system I'm having trouble with is:

GeForce GTX670 2GB
Core I5-3570 3.4 GHz
16GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 Corsair
Win10 Pro 64bit

@MATAMET

goto: \Moje dokumenty\18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2\

and paste file: config.cfg

LINK: http://www58.zippyshare.com/v/TdWHM33R/file.html

WoS Extreme Trucker 2 wants to run in OpenGL mode, instead of DirectX :P

I checked out the Demo :D

That worked, MirM. It's strange, however, that the game could run in opengl on the 32bit system with GF210. Thanks for the tip.

SCAM ALERT! all download buttons on that website are fake!

EDIT: one of the buttons worked after it displayed some ads... http://smallskill.org/files/et2/config.cfg this is the direct link. Create config.cfg in "C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2" and past the content of the link in there.

Or you can just change the r_device line in the config.cfg file from "gl" to "dx9":

Code: Select all

uset r_device "dx9"
The config.cfg file can be found in the "18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2" folder located in "My Documents"

In my case, config.cfg was not created. And more poeple had that problem. By the way, devs should fix this. I was willing to accept this when I pirated games and always expected trouble... but I payed for the game and I expect it to launch flawlessly at least.
