Vanilla Since Update 1.32

#1 Post by supersobes » 19 Aug 2018 19:50

The 1.32 update makes both ETS2 and ATS so much better. In fact, I like the update so much that I just moved all of the files from my mods folders to the recycle bin folder. I've been keeping the game mostly vanilla for about 10 months now, and only using about 3 at the same time at most. But it is official now, I play ATS 100% vanilla 100% of the time. I can't say the same for ETS2 though. It would have to be 98% vanilla, and when it is vanilla it is only about 50% of the time. This mod and this mod are the two ETS2 mods that I can't live without. Since Autumn and Winter combined make up about 50% of the year, I am not vanilla in ETS2 for about 50% of the time. Once SCS adds the ability to change seasons to the base game, then I will be trucking in 100% vanilla 100% of the time. I love vanilla ATS. It is so simple, yet so realistic. And with all of the updates and DLC from SCS, it just keeps on getting better!

I deleted or disabled most of my mods in preparation for 1.32 breaking them and I agree. I kept GSC weather 4.5, Smarty's license plates / wheel pack / reflective chevrons and the Advanced B-train tankers.

Its surprising how little I miss the rest.

Chevrons have been reflective in the base game since update 1.29, so that should be one more mod you won't miss. ;)

I dumped all my ATS and ETS2 mods as well for 1.32ob to eliminated mod issues. However, its only for my virgin beta profile. Although going vanilla isn't as difficult as I thought, I will still run a few mods in ATS. Just much less than I had previously. The fps in vanilla for me is very very high and that is nice.

I started a vanilla profile in 1:32 but there's a couple of things that annoy me. There's no shiny wheels available, they're just a dull aluminum, also, the damage! Holy crapola, every little thing, you run up against a curb you got damage! Some idiot AI runs into you, you got damage! So my vanilla profile is gonna be vanilla "lite." I have a No Damage mod I'm going to use, I seem to get more damage than the revenue I make! Probably an exaggeration but it is annoying. :(
Speaking of revenue, there doesn't seem to be more money in hauling with your own trailer than not (?)

The last mods I'm still using [in ets2] is promods/rusmap/southern regions/the great steppe and I'm not even using those on my main profile [which is vanilla]. But I feel once 1.32 and baltics dlc come out, I won't need those anymore - plenty drive-able area [in area that I wanted for a while]. All updates after will make it better each time because more and more base game area gets reworked.
In ATS I'm mainly waiting for 1.32 before I play it again. [full vanilla, cus good enough]

So as soon as 1.32 comes out for both games, this'un will be and stays full vanilla.

You can get chrome wheels if you own the "Wheel Tuning DLC." If you catch it during a Steam sale, you can get it really cheap.

I have not had the issue with curbs damaging the truck, but the AI hitting the truck can get a bit annoying, especially for me because I'm a bit OCD about the damage on my truck. It annoys the heck out me when there is an amount other than $0 in the diagnostics screen for the cabin or chassis, which are not affected by the wear and tear feature in the game. Most often, the AI causes damage to my truck by failing to give the right-of-way at junctions.
