Dumb Roads

#1 Post by bobgrey1997 » 01 Jun 2017 08:30

So, I recently got a new job delivering pizzas in Conway, and noticed something odd while sitting in a customer's driveway today...
What is going on here?

Here is the intersection of Washington Ave, Fleming St, and Clifton St:

Yeild to what? Who? Where? Which way?

Have any of you got some dumb roads and intersections in your local areas? Share some!

Here is another:
This is the intersection of Irby Dr (main, through road of intersection) and Poteete Dr (ends at this intersection)

Who in theiir right mind would even think to put a stop sign at a roundabout!? Also, why is there even a roundabout here in the first place!?
This just dumb!
Now this one, I've actually reached out to ConwayCorp, the corporation that practically runs the city! They simply responded with "because..."

Also, there is a park not far from where I work that has a major speed bump (well, speed hole!) and a stop sign, kindof...

I've got some more to show the next time I happen to be at some of them and get pictures...
But feel free to share some you've noticed near you!

That is in your local area? Is there at least some other lights around The intersection that you can guess from?
Sometimes I wonder who manages to get hired for these sorts of things...

Hm.. I know a certain situation like that in The Hague [ external image ]

In my local area there is a traffic light that will always stay green because there's nothing conflicting the traffic light:[ external image ]

An evergreen stoplight? Such a waste of taxpayer money, the other two lights...

And what is it with these stoplights and bridges? Do people not realize that concrete is NOT transparent?

Also, just because I enjoy these names:

Here are two intersections with some strange road names that I went to in the same night...

Fugitt Rd:

and my personal favorite intersecting road names
Wicket St and Picket St: (technically Wicket and Picketwicket)
[ external image ]

Sorry for the bad quality, I work at night and am using my phone's camera...

Oh, a bit off topic...
Notice anything wrong with this picture?

That was taken with my phone. As a delivery driver, I had to record my starting and ending mileage each shift. I forgot to record my starting mileage and decided to record it on my first delivery. Not too bad an idea, right? Well key word is ON delivery. Look at the red needle and think about about it...

Turning at an intersection onto the Interstate in a construction zone mid turn labeled as a 20, going 60, because screw it, I am in a hurry, enjoy drift attempts on freeway onramps, and needed to record that mileage (failed attempt, stupid glare)...
Learned a lesson that day:
"What? Don't take turns at high speeds in construction zones while fiddling your phone?"
No, That's just too much fun!
Lesson learned: Don't take a picture of something with glass over it in summer time in the northern hemisphere while driving east in the afternoon. The glare is bound to get in the way.
