Re: Volvo release the electric Volvo VNR
Recharged in 70 minutes, WOW! And the torque
Just imagine when the batteries will last for a day shift, then it's probably goodbye to the Otto-engine

Re: Volvo release the electric Volvo VNR
It's only got 2 gears. Idk about the ratios of that VNR but if you take a typical eaton fuller 13 spd's 1st gear, 8.59:1, and let's say a 2.93:1 rear end (not for heavy haul), that's a 25.16:1 ratio in 1st (correct me if I'm wrong).
If we pair that with the least powerful ISX 15, with 1450 lb-ft of torque, we get 36482 lb-ft at the wheels in 1st gear.

Re: Volvo release the electric Volvo VNR
@Milhouse an electric engine doesn't behave the same as a diesel engine, so 2 gears might be more than enough

Re: Volvo release the electric Volvo VNR
If i'm being honest me and most of my family never liked the idea of Electric Trucks and Electric Cars, me and most of my family love diesel engines more than your average electric engine.
since my dad actually Bought a 1998 General hummer that me and him been trying to fix up, so we plan to race it against the Hummer EV once they start making them since he already "reserved" one of them hummers.

Who doesn't like a good ole Freightliner?

Re: Volvo release the electric Volvo VNR
Unless you throw a ton of money into that diesel engine and make it stupidly powerful, good luck beating the EV.
Anyways, whether someone likes it or not, electric cars and trucks are the near future of transport. I know Volvo already works on so called "easy chargers", which will allow the truck to be recharged while it's loaded/unloaded, which basically means that your local delivery trucks should be more than capable of lasting a whole shift.
Personally I would love to get a chance to drive one of those Electric trucks, having all the torque with basically no noise in the interior, that's a whole new level of trucking experience.

The smallest details always make the biggest difference.

No noise, when you have gotten rid of the tires...
