Kenworth W900 IRL | Also a kid's video

Hey guys, So I do a lot of heavy haul stuff on ATS. I typically lean towards the Peterbilt 389 but in real life I run heavy haul on day cab Kenworth W900. Now I don't do any supper loads, I can only run up to 7 axles because the company I work for that's all we have. In the state of North Carolina we can permit our rucks up 132,000 pounds on 7 axles and 120,000 pounds on 6 axles. I have even done some loads up to 14 feet wide with a pilot car. It is a very unique challenge that a lot of truck drivers don't have to face. But it is one that I enjoy. I am hoping to someday either become an owner operator running a 7axle rig, or stay as a company driver and work my way to 12 and 13 axle supper loads. Her a few pics of some of the loads I have hauled over the last couple of years as an RGN driver.

In this photo, I had pulled into a small gas station. I was desperate for fuel. The low fuel light was on and I wasn't sure how much farther I had miles wise and I didn't think it was enough to make it back to our shop in Knightdale, NC. I was able to get in here and get fuel on the driver side tank only, but it was more than enough, that much I did know. People looked at me like what the heck? But I made the tight squeeze and was able to get in and out and do what I needed to do with no problems. I even managed to stay off of curbs. I got lucky that day. This load come from Maryland back to North Carolina and I had left with the truck from my house from here at midnight.

This Next photo is a Caterpillar 336 Excavator. My 2 year old son is absolutely bonkers for excavators. I will post a video to his favorite kids song at the bottom. This machine by itself weighs 81,900 pounds! That's a lot of weight. With the empty truck and trailer being roughly around 41,000 pounds that brings this rig to a total of nearly 123,000 pounds! We permit this load to 132,000lbs on 7 axles. It's a big one for sure.

This photo is my favorite. This is a Caterpillar D8 bulldozer. It is 12ft and 10in wide at the blade. In the state of North Carolina, anything over 12 feet wide has to have a pilot car. I've had a few different escort drivers. My favorite was my boss because he was really good at getting on coming traffic out of my way on narrow two way streets. When I first started hauling escort for this company, we had to out source a pilot car because no one in the company was properly certified. I had an old guy that was missing teeth and smoke cigars. He was hard to understand on the CB sometimes but he was cool too. He had been doing it a really long time and had lots of neat stories to tell.

And lastly I bring you a brand spanking new Komatsu PC390. I always really enjoy hauling new equipment. It just looks so good going down the road. I really appreciate when the company I work for let's me go and get the new equipment. There is something special and unique about driving something that clean off the lot. This machine only had 14 hours on it. I just picked it up in Raleigh and dropped it off at a jobsite in Zebulon this past Friday.
