Parts have been coming in for the CTA 8.3. Just waiting for the pistons to arrive, decided to go full oem with engine parts.
Finished tearing down the engine, after spending a few hours steam cleaning it, at first, I started thinking it was painted black, but it was all sludge and blow by that coated the outside of the engine, in reality, it was cummins beige, which after the rebuild, it will be repainted also🙂

BTW, I normally use imgur app to share my photos directly from my phone, but for some reason, the last update isnt letting me upload photos to it at the moment. Thats why I used photobucket, and Im confused with its app to be able to share photos from it like I do with imgur.

A little update on progress
Started the engine rebuilding process, hot tanked the parts, ,mic'd all the fits, and decided to do a complete rebuild from ground up. Decided to bore the block .040 over to be safe, everything else is standard going back in. Heres a few pics of the progress, I have more to upload, I just got lucky with the imgur app working for me with these, but stay tuned for more to come ;)

Hope y'all enjoy 8-)

Started the process of removing the cab and the old drivetrain so I can finish cleaning and prepping the frame for her new driveline install. While doing the tear down, I noticed that all the original air lines on the truck are hard-lined in copper tubing except the very few rubber hoses needed for flex areas.
All the original airlines will be replaced with new rubber and vinyl tubing, all new valving will be used also. Heres a few photos of progress, stay tuned, more to come 8-)

Heres a little something for @Smarty if he wants to incorporate it into his wheel and tire mod, I was steam cleaning the chassis after I finished striping it. I never noticed the brand name tires on my truck until yesterday.
At the moment, it has 8 of these as virgin tires, and 2 goodyear recaps

Managed to get the chassis inside my shop to start the fab work, Im planning to have a intercooler mounted some how with still retaining use of the original radiator and shutter assembly. So, I fabricated some brackets to mount the intercooler behind the radiator to retain the original look of the truck

I also had a little bit of spare time, and curiosity got the best of me too lol. I had plans to sell the original engine and transmission, but to make it a little more appealing to the buyer also, I managed to get the original engine running by replacing the points and condenser. I do have to say, for not running since 1975, I couldnt of got my finger off the starter cable quick enough, it started right up, and have to say it sounds very healthy too
