[REL] Desert Truck Map 1.0

#1 Post by DOWL » 09 Dec 2020 00:42

Ever felt that ATS wasn't boring enough? Wish you could go back to the good old days of Desert Bus?

Image

Well worry no more! Introducing Desert Truck 1.0, drive in 1:1 scale the 580km (360 mile) route through the desert from Tucson to Las Vegas. Wonder at the vast emptiness of Arizona and Nevada on your ~5.5 hour (real time) journey along a totally flat and pretty much straight road with no junctions or scenery. Unlike Desert Bus, your truck handles well, but the road itself has many slight turns requiring constant adjustments on the steering - so don't worry cruise control won't be saving you much pain.

Image

Start in Tucson and head north west for hours on end to reach Las Vegas and realise you will never get that time back.

Image

Is there anything out there in this vast map? Could there be any hidden easter eggs? Probably not but you'll have to drive the whole route to find out!

(New Lighting in 1.40)

Requires DLC: Oregon, Washington, Idaho. Compatible with ATS 1.39/1.40

Download for 1.40 [4.6MB]

Download for 1.39 [4.6MB]

(Note the map is standalone, so you will need to make a new profile, and select "desert.mbd" as the playing module)

DISCLAIMER: I cannot be held liable for any extreme boredom or discomfort from playing this map. There are a few bugs and the cities are lazyily built at best. These things won't be fixed in future.

Déjà Vu, reminds me of the early days of ATS. Two states full of sand sagebrush and cactus. I'd never fallen asleep more often while playing a game. Zzzzz. Ah yes, the good ol' days. ;)

Seems such a boring mod but it is not. A very good idea. Please add more to it, I mean more roads and more places to go. This helps me to reconnect with myself. Thanks.

My game crashes after selecting the startingcity. Game is up to date and I have the required dlc's. No mods.

Make sure your starting city is Tucson (Not Las Vegas). I thought I had fixed the crash on new game, but maybe it still happens occasionally. If it crashes after selecting Tucson, try again as the game sometimes fails to generate the first job.
