First Attempt at a Themed Skin Set

First Attempt at a Themed Skin Set

#1 Post by Captain_Zero » 25 Mar 2016 13:37

This is my first attempt at creating a themed skin set for ATS.

What I have isn't overly complex yet, but it's still a work in progress.

Any suggestions and feedback are greatly appreciated.

So far, I have only worked with the W900.

I hate technology sometimes. :p

They should work this time. When I sign out of the account I have them hosted on, they still show for me. My apologies for that. I'm not sure what makes that work fine one hour then completely be mucked up the next.

Yup, make sure your image links are permanent. This is why i stopped using Google Photos because the only way to make the links permanent is to use Picasa and set each image to public manually.
That just because TOO MUCH WORK in the end for something that should be so simple so i programmed my own image hosting...

As for your theme, it does look nice but i am getting an immediate image of fire trucks in my head. And it just doesn't fit IMHO.

EDIT: Oh wait... Leaning forwards and reading the text on the logo. It is a fire truck logo. :P
Either way, it just doesn't feel right.
On extended hiatus.

I have a minor fascination with fire trucks and wanted to try and make something to reflect that.

Since we didn't have a steampunk skin for the W900, I decided to make my own.

Looks ok.
Do you have a good template for the truck? Steampunk is all about making things look like they are bolted together.
That side window sticks out for instance. I would add a rusty bolted thick frame to it.

I've used the templates LoaderSaints has compiled into a list for the standard SCS trucks. So far the ones for Photoshop have worked well for me.

I'll try working on framing the window with the bolt seam when I can.

Would you say maybe adding a rusted bolt outline to the widows would work as well or possibly where the cab changes over to the sleeper section if I use different exhaust pipes?
