Factory Paint Schemes.

#1 Post by overfloater » 05 Feb 2018 18:08

Hello.

This will be my skin workshop.
I like the various "stock" color designs on trucks, so i'll be basing my skins off of that.

Freightliner FLC skin pack
Suitable for XBS's FLC.

W900 skin pack
Suitable for stock W900, Big Bob's W900, as well as GTM W900B.

Peterbilt 579 skin pack

My least realistic skin pack, since modern trucks almost always come in plain color, and the color schemes are from 80's & 90's kenworth trucks.

Very cool ! Thanks !

edit : after a quick look through the truck browser, I must say they really look very nice, great job ! They really fit the truck very well ! What references did you use ? Do you have some sort of factory schemes from Kenworth ? 8-)

BTW, it's not your fault, but I really wished SCS would provide us with the options of having ingame adjustable metallic colors (the 3 color boxes) AND the 3/4 adjustable design colors ... Kinda sad having to choose between the metallic color and the stripes colors ...

What references did you use ?
various Kenworth t800 from my country.
A few examples (not my photos):

this is in israel. a US truck with a plain color was a rare sight here. Today, a US truck by itself is a rare sight!
i don't know much about these patterns, but the repeating sight of them, exclusively on KW trucks, implies that this is a stock option in a KW owned paintshop.

i believe the paint schemes are common in Mexico as well, while not common in USA itself.

Classic paint job for modern "aero" trucks.

Download: WORKSHOP

i made it for Pete-387 because it would look good on it
then made it for t680, thinking it would have a similar effect. But not much can help that truck.

Worked out all the quality issues! :o

This was really getting under my skin. That annoying gap between colors:
(black lines on white background make it more pronounced)

i searched for a workaround, but what i found only helped partially.
One of them was using mixed colors (yellow, teal, etc). it reduced the problem, but gaps were still there.

Anyhow... the solution.
the colors R,G,B should not come in contact with each other, only with black.

So instead of doing skins like this:

...i did THIS:

No gaps! perfectly clean color.

Freightliner skins for FLB. Gonna release after i've made more, and later hopefully make the same ones for FLD &/or Classic.

i was gonna make a bunch of Kenworth based skins for the FLB, but must gladly cancel that due to a proper K100 upcoming mod

One was already finished a while ago:
