While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Technical data Resources (Engines and gearboxes)

#1 Post by rookie_one » 06 Apr 2017 20:08

Since Volvo actually decided to discontinue the 16-liter engine in North America and removed all documentation about it(although not before I downloaded it), I decided to make an archive of engines and gearboxes technical data including torque curves(and combination when possible) so that we can easily add them in-game instead of having to guess

List of those who helped me get technical data :

Galilim, for data for most europeans trucks
Snoman, for data on both sides of the atlantic
Smarty for old americans engine data

Here is the Gdrive link :
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Please note that as a whole, it is incomplete, here what is missing :

ATS :
Mack MP10 2013 and 2017 specs ratings and torque curves
Detroit Diesel Gen5 DD15 and DD13

Thanks

Data added with the help of Galilim on european trucks.

Note that I will work in the next few days to get the data out of ZF website for their gearboxes

Thanks!
Scania in the documents is the most powerful engine of 620 HP. Why no engine 730 HP?

that's for the older engine version (Euro4), check the other documentation.

Do note that we still have some missing in there

The D16 was discontinued because it wasn't needed anymore. The engineers figured out how to use the D13 to do everything the D16 did and so much more. It didn't help that the EPA was being stupid about the big engines and making them page huge fees for manufacturing them. Either way I have used to both engines and the D13 is much better.

The D16 hasn't been discontinued everywhere...

D16 was only discontinued in North america, with the reason being simply that most people are still used to Cummins engine for big block engines. The volume of sales for the D16 was very low, so it was not worth it, at least for now, for volvo to continue making the D16 for the north american market, they will probably return to making it for North America at one point in the future.

Anyway, big update people, we got information on Iveco that I managed to find, interesting thing : the new Hi-tronix gearbox is nothing more than a ZF TraXon rebadged.

Also head up fellow modders, the MX-11 is also available in north america!
