Proper load order for Maps

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

Proper load order for Maps

#1 Post by Blackspots » 31 Dec 2017 00:47

Generally, this is how I load my maps (and other mods), and it works very well (I usually merge multipart maps as well to make it easier). I also watch Wombat's load order videos to verify I am correct.

***THIS LOAD LIST ASSUMES YOU HAVE ALL THE DLC'S***

***PLEASE REPORT MAP ISSUES ON THE RESPECTIVE THREAD FOR THE MOD, AND NOT HERE***

LOAD ORDER:
TOP OF MOD MANAGER
--environment mods--
--road texture mods--
--garage logo mods--
--environment sound mods, like Sound Fixes Pack--
--real company logo mods--
-------------------------------------------------------------
* Background Map Viewpoint Fix for ATS To make the viewports visible again
* ATS Universal Satellite Background - a satellite map background by BenganJ, dOOmERdaZe, and Arayas
* Midwest Expansion (Now called 50United C2C Compatible)
* ProMods Canada - Canadream Connection Fix here (Fixes city name conflicts)
* ProMods Canada - Canadream Road Connection here
* Promods Canada Def (Download ProMods here)
* Promods Canada Model
* Promods Canada Assets
* Promods Canada Maps
* Carribean Map
* Reforma C2C Compatibility Patch
* Montana Expansion Road Connection
* Montana Expansion
* CanaDream
* Coast to Coast (Great America would go here, if using it instead of C2C)
* A certain Reforma mod goes here.
* Reforma
-------------------------------------------------------------
--ai vehicle mods, such as the Jazzcat mods--
--wheel packs mods such as Smarty's wheel packs--
--trailer mods--
--truck improvement mods--
--truck mod (singular - one truck is enough)--
TO BOTTOM OF MOD MANAGER

NOTES:
• Great America DOES NOT work with C2C. Its a competing map, you choose either C2C or Great America
• Canadream is not designed to work by itself, you must have Coast to Coast activated as well.
• Mega Resources is required for Viva Mexico, Sierra Nevada, Mexico Extremo, and Mexssimap
• Do not use the "Google Maps Navigation" mod, as it will cause a misaligned main map background.
• Viva Mexico will no longer be supported, and will no longer be needed once the state of Chihuahua is added to Mexico Extremo

STOLEN/COMBINED MAPS: DO NOT USE OR SUPPORT
American Truck Map, USCanMex
Any map put out by Mario

You forget "Mexico Extremo". Put it between "Coast to Coast" and "Viva Mexico C2C Compatible".

Thank you so much for this post, ShirBlackspots. I have figured it out by lurking in all the map threads, but having a loading order post for reference is awesome. I also am glad you added in your loading order for items other than maps as well as I always struggle with where I should put a mod in the loading order.

I wonder if you use any sound mods and if so, where do you load those? Do you consider these truck tuning mods?

Sound mods are typically at the top

Truck related sound mods go just above the truck

Just to clarify, your loads starts with --environment mods--, by placing at bottom of list in Mod Manager Active Mods?

@ravensview: No, you place them exactly in the same order as you see in the list, not in reverse. Top means top. Top doesn't mean bottom.

Thank you. Do you run any truck specific sound mods (engine, air brakes, etc) yourself and if so, which ones do you recommend.

Generally, I don't run truck sound mods, because I'm satisfied with what comes with the truck mod I use.
