Re: Realistic Rain v3.9.1 for 1.40 [Update 01 May - 2021]

@GT182 Sorry, I don't understand well, can you explain it in more detail?

EDIT: Ok, I did not know what "RainX" is, it is a product that slides the raindrops so that the windows stay clean, right?

I could try to do some testing, but the effect would apply to all glass (windshield, windows etc ...)

Yes, it does make rain slide off off windows. It doesn't actually make them "stay clean". They're still wet even with rain sliding off them, but "clean" enough you don't need the wipers on to see. You actually see the rain sliding up the windshield very fast depending on your speed. If you stop you need wipers but can turn them off once you start moving again. If the effect is the same for all windows that's ok. Tho the rain will slide across the side windows from the front to the back..... not up like on the windshield. I use it all the time on my Jeep Grand Cherokee, 66 GTO, and the wife's Ford Focus too.

@GT182 Thanks for the info, maybe in the future I can do some tests and if the result is good I can launch it with a add-on.

No problem. It was just a thought that I figured I'd toss your way and you might be interested in it. The way ATS is it probably won't work. If it doesn't work out don't worry about it. Tho I'd like to test it if it does before you release it, if you do get it working.... if that's ok with you.

@GT182 I think you're missing the point of this mod, this mod is made to simulate the weather and conditions during rain and not to "improve" visibility, if someone is looking for improved visibility and make everything easy, they might as well turn off the rain setting all together or keep the default rain look...

Oh really. Visibility is part of the equation. And by your comment I don't think you are or ever was a truck driver. I've been all across the US and in weather where the rain was so bad the wipers couldn't take care of the rain. I started using RainX on a recommendation by another trucker and have never stopped using it. It works well enough and it's saved my butt many times IRL.... safety IS the name of the "game" and visibility is a big part of safety. If you can't be safe IRL out on the highways then you'd better find another occupation or stay off the highways.

If possible it would be great for the severe rain in the mods. ATS is a Simulation, according to SCS, and weather mods are simulating real life. Need I say more?

I noticed in smaller the windshield cabin, the rain drop looks bigger, is it normal?

GT182 wrote: 02 May 2021 00:38 Darkcaptain, is there a way possible to add RainX to the windshield as in real life so the wipers aren't needed unless it's a real heavy rain or a downpour? It would be a nice addition if possible.
Don't know if it works with Realistic Rain but here's something similar to what you are looking for
Glaco Rain v1.0 work1.40
It's for ETS2 so maybe you can ask the author to adapt it for ATS
