[REL] Construction/ Lane Closure Sign Distance 1.38

#1 Post by busted85 » 16 Dec 2019 23:52

This mod changes the distance of the signs for construction zones. I've always thought they were to close and it doesn't give you enough time to slow down for the zones. This also changes the distance for the pickup truck that signals for the lane closure for an accident. Now it gives you enough space to change lanes and slow down. I also allowed for some of the areas to be placed in sharper curves and adjusted how long the maximum length can be. I didn't change the size of the sites that are one two-lane road with traffic lights. They take long enough and I didn't want to mess with the timing of the lights.

This has been tested on 1.38

I'm new to modding but this should work with no errors. I would like to upload it to Steam but I get errors for a dangling pointer since I can't find the other files so it won't let me upload there. So someone that knows more about it could probably get it to work.
Or if you wanted to add this to another mod just copy the files and place them.

Here is an example of the truck that is signaling a lane closure due to an accident being farther back giving you more time to start lowering your speed.

Does this increase the construction zones too? If not, could it?

I did increase the maximum distance some of the zones can be. Yes, you should notice some longer work zones. This is still a work in progress.

Nothing quite that long. But you will notice longer sections. I'm still testing to see what the maximum limit is. But the biggest thing with this mod is I changed out the spacing distance of the signs to allow more space to adjust for the construction zone or vehicle accidents.

What other files can you not find? What does the error say it needs?

>/def/world/journey_road_event.sii':
ERROR [00012] (/universal/def/world/journey_road_event.sii): [unit] The unit 'j_re.crash_in' of type 'journey_events_road_event' has dangling pointer (to 'j_cut.crash_in') in the attribute named 'layer_cutscenes'.

I get this error for every scene in the "journey_road_event.sii" . I have tried doing search of 'j_re.crash_in' and j_cut.crash_in with Notepad ++ in all the files that I have extracted from base, def, etc.. files or anything they reference too. I'm assuming I need another file from somewhere the road_event is pointing to. I'm new at this. So I could be way off. The mod itself works I packaged everything into a .scs format. I just can't get pass the errors to upload it to Steam.

I have never looked into editing road events, but it looks like a line in journey_road_event.sii is pointing to a "j_cut.crash_in".
Open this sii file from your mod in notepad++ and search (ctrl+f) for "j_cut.crash_in) and see if you can't find a pointer to another file either in the resulting line or in the block that contains or is contained by that line.

I'll check again and see if I missed it somewhere. Thanks.
