I think they're supposed to look like birds when viewed from the highway. Unless they're static...

They move, problem is they look like oil to me. But the effect is not of an oil spill.

These are some remains of black hole tunnelings in the area, farmers like to mix them with fertilizers to increase mass of crops they produce, and to mess with pilots due to some serious G-effects around the fields of course... rednecks ya' know.

Don't mind these, since their Schwarzschild radius is quite small and we have some serious amounts of Dark energy stored under those field to keep the planet in current shape (you know, with all those gravitational effects, speed of light escape velocity and singularity mess) we should be fine in few days due to Hawking radiation (required by Unruh effect and the equivalence principle), don't get too close though, these little guys do radiate a lot of heat (like hell-balls actually) to nearby area which you can calculate using some high-end stuff like it's entropy, surface gravity, mass and radius (ideally you are lucky and these are non-rotating, non-charged Schwarzschild black hole of mass X(that you calculate yourselves)). But who have the time, right ?
