[WIP] Freightliner FLB

#1 Post by Smarty » 26 Feb 2016 22:10

This will be my second ground-up truck for ATS. I think I started the model back in '04 or '05. It's hard to remember. The basic geometry of the cab and frame is more or less done, a few important accessory textures are done, and one of the visible engine models is nearly complete (Cummins N14 Celect). The plan is to eventually have the full range of high (100, 110) and flat (63, 75, 90, 100, 110) cabs with some different frame configurations.

If I direct your attention to the headlight and windshield areas, you'll notice the shape is far truer to the real thing than the 18WoS:ET model that keeps floating around. ;)

Liking anyone who is doing Freightliner's, definitely my favourite brand of truck, your bumpers look really amazing in those pics!

Idle query but are you likely to retain the same number of accessories fixings for this one or stay what I suspect is truer to life? :)

Thanks everyone!

DAFmanXFE6: I intend to have a wide range of accessories to fit fleet and owner-operator setups for a decent range of applications. For example, the equipment shown is for an O/O flatbed application (built to go with my Phantom as a matter of fact). As for some of the more outlandish, or more... European?.. equipment on the other FLB, you'll not find that here. Still, expect good variety. ;)

Would you consider making a dromedary chassis? (Not exactly a request, just a question.)

I used to see Wonder Bread using FLBs as dromedaries all the time. I always found them so fascinating when I was a kid because of how ridiculously long they were.
