SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

They're air intakes, yes (there are actually decently sized Donaldson air cleaners under the hood which draw air through these). The smaller object is a bypass oil filter (aka a Luberfiner).

From what I can tell, roughly from 1974-1980. The engine selection varied somewhat over that time period but included: Cummins NTC (300-475), KT 450, and Power Torque 330D (I think this had limited applications - maybe just ready-mix, crane carrier, etc); Detroit 8V-71N/T/TA, 8V-92N/T/TT/TA/TTA; and Caterpillar 3406, 3408. Like any large conventional of the time, you had quite a selection.

Yes, most were sold for use in on/off-highway logging, with a decent number also seeing use as dump trucks, ready-mix trucks, and in oil exploration. I read one anecdote about them being jokingly called two-storey conventionals. The cab is actually the same as the IH 5070 Paystar from the same time period (IH owned Pacific at this time), and it's mounted a full 6" higher than the 5070 which itself was mounted 2" higher than the Transtar 4270/4370. It's truly monstrous. :D

I actually have an original copy of this brochure that I bought as part of a lot of Pacific spec sheets. ;)
jackpeterbilt wrote: Smarty will it have a sleeper?
I'm still debating this. I'm not aware of a single P-500F (or any P-500 series) that has been outfitted with a sleeper. Certainly not from the factory, nor even aftermarket. I'm toying with the idea of leveraging the 34" sleeper from the GMC General, as it's effectively the same sleeper IH used on Transtar conventionals of the same period. However, the Transtar used a subframe to marry the cab and sleeper together in a way that the Paystar cab mounts don't exactly support so I'll have to 'invent' some kind of mounting solution if I do decide to go that route. In general, I want to keep the scope of this project relatively small (not a super-project like the General), so that may be something I kick down the road.

The famous log trailer with their rack would be an awesome addition for the future.
