I would need to create some lower level-of-detail meshes first. The current model is too high-poly to perform reasonably in traffic for most players. Plus, as far as I know, the effective wheelbase is longer than all of the game's existing traffic trailers so there is a high probability that the AI trucks would just crash into things when pulling it. There are ways around that, but they tend to look rather tacky.

I might do it eventually but, if I do it, I'm going to do it right. ;)

I added this trailer to the traffic by myself and they look just as great. I have a pretty powerful PC so I can't really notice the frame drops even in the city. Handling-wise, the AI will hop some curbs here and there. I have yet to see a traffic accident involving the trailer.

All of my trailers, except for this, the Magitude, the Fabrex Walking Floor, and XL Specialized Lowbed are in traffic

Here's a sidekit I'm working on.

Unfortunately, a lot of weird things happen when I try to use the trailer paintjob system with it (the game treats all of the trailer variants as having paintjobs, and the paintjobs will only show up white). Hopefully I can find a workaround that doesn't involve making a completely separate trailer model... :?

i know for a fact that sidekit you used can only have a solid color (I did the same thing with your trailer weeks ago

I guarantee you haven't used this sidekit, seeing as I just modeled it last night. It'll have an alt-uv for non-mirrored paintjobs. Until I can sort out truckpaints (read: probably bother poor Max), I'm just using dif.spec.mult.dif.spec.add.env seeing as it can use the same texture set and give the same result (without the interchangeability, mind).

Anyways, here's a gander at how I'm doing my tarp straps. The hooks and D-rings are all transparent planes, so the impact on the poly count isn't terribly hefty.
