Retarder problem [NOT A BUG]

#1 Post by lempen » 27 Mar 2016 11:59

Hello

When I activate retarder, truck does not slow down and the retarder doesn't effect truck speed when going down the ramp. I don't use any mod. Is it a bug or something else?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Are you using a transmission that has a retarder on it?

No, I'm asking if you went into the truck shop and bought a transmission that includes the retarder. Not all transmissions include the retarder.

Yes I am using transmission with retarder. Same problem occurs quick job's trucks with retarder. Especially first and second level of retader doesn't work. Trucks dont slow down.

I wouldn't recommend the first two stages for slowing down the truck personally.

I wouldn't call it a problem though, i'd say it's an improvement, before, when you enabled the first two stages of the retarder, you could almost bring a truck going 80km/h to a stop in a few feet, or in the correct conditions, lock up your front wheels and jackknife, but now it's more gradual, and doesn't try to throw your truck backwards.

I took a heavy load yesterday, so I understand what you mean about it being practically useless. On lighter loads it is okay.

Overall it is an improvement, I haven't come close to spinning out due to the retarder on CC on tight turns coming off motorways since the change.

It does however kinda make the smart CC useless, since it never really goes above strength two, so as the OP said, with a heavy load on a steep hill the auto-retarder simply is inefficient. I found myself going faster with in on strength two. :|

Same here. The strength has changed. It's more weaker than before.

You can increase the retarder "strength factor" in physics.sii. Default value is 1.0
I'm wondering if the 5 stage retarder requires higher levels of operation to achieve the same 'strength' as a 3 stage retarder.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

Ok, but why changed the strength? :)
This is the good (realistic) behavior or it is bug now?
