@Viktor427 Normally I use headphones when playing ATS, but testing is done with the surround sound system attached to my machine.
Thunderous. Hit the jacobs and it'll wake the dead.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

@room217au Honestly there are so many CAT fans and while those engines do sound awesome, in my opinion Cummins engines sound so much more brutal, I get a sense like im driving a whole mountain, the deep mechanical sound shakes your internal organs. I have been in busses that use the X13 engines as well as some that use older ones and even tho they are smaller in displacement I find the sound to be phenomenal. Im a big fan of Scania V8s and even that cant compare.

The Cummins ISX has a distinctive 'jangling chain' sound at idle. That seems to have been lost along the way. Kriechbaum was the only one who had this idle sound, but that's back in 1.35/36

I set the Truck Exhaust slider to 75% and the turbo slider to about 40% (all other truck noises at 50% as suggested) and dropped it in my KW hauling machine parts from Vegas to Steamboat Springs, CO in a 53ft trailer.
When I was given the engine to try, Kriechbaum said "Try the X15. It's a nice engine."
Nice?
Nope. It's a salivating, growling animal. It'll pull ya mother-in-law right off the buffet. It's glorious.
Still a couple of little tweaks to go, but shouldn't be too long now for public release.
Once again, this guy just leaves everyone else in a dust trail.
This makes more excited for an engine than any man has a right to be. You, sir, should be in marketing.

@room217au I know exactly the sound you mean. The main problem is, it wasn’t a healthy sound. It was caused by wear on the cam gears which made excessive backlash. The ISX in my last truck did it until I put a new cam and gears in it, then it was smooth.

I actually prefer the Cummins engine brakes to the Cats. Mind you Im talking from a company driver stand point, so no straight pipes (mostly). But the CAT's had a much more muted sound compared to the Cummins.

And why is there no love for the DD Series 60? The older ones made all kinds of happy noises (even through mufflers) when crawling down a mountain.

@Dukman Honestly if its a big diesel engine I love how it sounds,it can be a CAT or DD or even a train engine, its just my opinion that Cummins engines sound the best.
