Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
Thought I'd try something new and sounds are what I wanted to figure out for a little while now.
It's very much a WIP but I'm happy with the sounds so far.
Detroit Diesel 4-71 Engines:
155HP
300HP
550HP "Heavy Hauler"
All base game trucks are supported.
Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/g1eyvqe0 ... s.scs/file
Please note: The HP/Torque may not be accurate as I cannot find manuals for these engines that list the required specifications.
Engine showcased is the 155HP variant.

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
I saw a lot of problem here
1. you have only one rpm sample in here
2. you don't have unload sound (sound when no throttle pressed)
3. engine pitch is very low compare to pitch detroit 2 stroke usually have
4. detroit 2 stroke normal idle is 800rpm
5. engine pitch drop while stopping engine
6. sample loop is not seamless and detectable
here's good video I found that can make a samples
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cr3ifgi3jI
I pretty sure it can be better in the future, keep it up
edit: also engine redline is abnormally low in fact that semi truck diesel redline is about 2100rpm and detroit 2 stroke can be up to 2400rpm

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
Thanks for the feedback.
1. As for RPM sample it was mostly recorded from 1 video. I went by engine sound and not specific RPM ranges.
2. Not sure how to set unload sound.
3. Engine pitch will be raised, I forgot to cut and loop the loaded sounds and fiddled with things i shouldn't in an attempt to fix it.
4. Idle RPM will be increased in the next patch.
5. I swear I've heard it before on some trucks, how would I stop this happening?
6. The idle loop or all of them?
The redline on the 155HP is lower than the 300 and 550 and I'm not sure why, is it down do the HP I entered in the engine.sii's?
@Slavthailand I used your FMOD tutorials to get this far.
Now I'm comfortable (mostly) with how it works I can go and look to rent a truck for the day and get some real decent samples. There's a good few nearby where I live and my mate has her own truck so it might come in handy.

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
from the image in load parameter curves, loaded curve will goes up and unloaded curve will goes down like this
[ external image ]
but if you make it like this and it sound not smoothly I recommended to put minimum unloaded curve at -10db like this

I make mods
yeah that's pretty much it

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
OK I see thanks. I'll look into that later. No .wav files get loaded in there right? It's just the curve that I need to do?
Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
@Digital X for loaded track you can use existing sound you have
but for unloaded sound need to find new one OR make it from your loaded sound by equalize it with audacity like this

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
this sound would fit well for the kraz trucks.
Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
I'm not aware of many kraz truck mod nowadays. I still have lots to learn with FMOD, this was just my "foot in the door" with it.
Sounds like it would be good too IMO.

Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
are you still working on this sound?
Re: Detroit Diesel 4-71 [WIP]
I haven't touched FMOD since it released this tbh. I don't have easy access to american trucks for sounds. I have to source it off Youtube which isn't great.
I've found one video which might be OK to use. Bear in mind this was my first time trying so lots to learn.
