Loosing messages in route adviser

#1 Post by mrotsalap3x » 17 Aug 2016 12:23

The route adviser have the message string on bottom. If I press ESC to get into menu when first letters of the message are coming I will loose that message when I go back to driving - it disappears.

Ok, I'll edit from home later.

The message has started to display. Press ESC to go to menu and then press ESC again to come back immediately.

in my personal opinion,
would simply add the chronology in messages / alerts received

in the messages of the "Route Advisor" to show the latest message received;
a ticket, a notification or any message
not that they are all visible, but only the last one. :D

This reminds me of an old Doctor joke...

A guy goes to see his Doctor. He says "Doctor, it hurts really bad when I turn my wrist like this. What can I do to avoid this pain?"

The Doctor says "Don't turn your wrist like that." [ external image ]

So what happens if you don't press ESC when first part of the messages are shown?

Atm I have 150+ hired drivers and trying to manage their skills as they level up. There is no any log or journal of messages, so I need to react on level up message. But often level up messages are coming in groups and sometime I press esc after first message and loosing second one, etc.

Not really sure if this can be classified as a bug.
This is how the game is designed. I agree it's not very convenient if someone uses it the way you do, but it works as intended.

The only thing I may add here is: you may post a suggestion, in the propper forum thread, to add a message log to route advisor.

I know exactly why this is happening. I don't think SCS will fix it because it would fall so low on their priority list that it would probably fall off if someone sneezes next door.

Simply don't press ESC?

And don't get me wrong, i feel ya on the annoyance it might bring you but the game is designed like this and it's probably not the easiest thing in the world to fix. It's because whenever you press ESC, the game flushes the whole game scene and displays the menu instead. It simply doesn't keep that information around anymore. The alternative would be your PC running out of memory due to thousands of memory leaks.
On extended hiatus.

Hello there.

I will put this up on a discussion on the next game deisgn meeting but I am pretty sure that all of our teams have far more important things to do these days when we are finalizing the Vive La France DLC, working on the ATS map rescale and all other very interesting stuff that I won't spoil to you :-(
