Unexpected crash [MOD]

#1 Post by Jon the VGnerd » 09 Jul 2017 22:59

Here is the full log for this. Seems I can't catch a break on playing normally without the game suddenly crashing. Mods I have are up to date, too (thought he "mover" errors keep popping up). Anyone else getting those?

Found the problem; Truck Traffic pack was conflicting with Painted Truck pack.

Glad you found your problem, but, I notice that your lacking in available RAM, I'd be looking at background tasks to free some up..

Wish I had money to buy more ram to juice it up to at least 32 GB. Otherwise, I'm broke ATM. :(

32GB RAM is overkill if you dont do video/picture editing or streaming

i have 16GB and the game doesnt even reaches it limit with it, -2GB for windows and 1 to 2GB for background programms ETS2 "can" use 12GB and it doesnt even reach the max with promods for me

8 GB, here. Never had a memory shortage with ETS 2. Not even close.

This is with all three map DLC, allmost all of the other non-skin-only DLC, and and a fair amount of clean and tidy mods.

No experience on my side with Promods, TSM or other big map projects. But the map size itself seem to be of little consequence. What can really hurt you is heavily modded vehicles/traffic. Especially with insanely high-poly models and oversize textures. But I have my doubts if more RAM will be of much help, then. Maybe a dev could comment this?

The game deals very humbly with memory resources. Problem for the OP was, as the log clearly indicates, that something other than the game eats most of his physical memory. Munch munch. ;)

Heh yeah. Only the problem is that I don't use ProMods. I use ETS2 mod site (which I know only a few mods are legit and not stolen) and Steam Workshop ones. Do know that this also happens to certain people with their game, without a single mod included. :P

It wasn't about Promods, it was about free memory shortage. 8GB RAM installed is plenty for the game. But if it used by other programs, the game will not get it:

Code: Select all

00:00:00.000 : [mem] physical total: 8117M
00:00:00.000 : [mem] physical avail: 1900M
That's unusual. There should be much more free physical memory available. Two ore three times as much.

Has nothing to do with the game itself. Better don't use memory-hogging applications while playing the game. It will hurt performance.
