Container sizes on gooseneck trailer [ACKNOWLEDGED]

#1 Post by natvander » 25 Jul 2017 12:34

The containers used on the gooseneck trailer don't conform to any size of container used in transport. It really is noticeable. The most common sized containers used in road transport are 20' and 40' in length whereas in the images below the in-game containers are considerably smaller.

These sizes are based of the ISO standard. These are recognised for use globally to allow for seamless transport of containers between road, rail and sea globally.

The correct sizes should be:
20' - 6.06m x 2.44m x 2.59m
40' - 12.19m x 2.44m x 2.59m (2.89m high cube)

The other common sizes used are
45' - 13.72m x 2.44m x 2.89m
48' - 14.63m x 2.44m x 2.89m
53' - 16.15m x 2.44m x 2.89m

There is also a 30ft and 10ft length container but I don't think they are nearly as popular as the other sizes. I believe the 10ft container is primarily used by the military.

Note that the sizes of containers used in ETS2 appear to be accurate.

I would also point out absence of larger containers loaded on a flatbed-like trailers. I am not sure about West Coast, but I rarely see goose-neck trailers here in NYC area, although I've seen a lot of trailers coming and leaving through New York Container Terminal on Staten Island
