Not showing the players truck helps with performance.
If your truck was reflected along with all the accessories in every possible bit of reflective material your performance would tank.

The rest of trucks (AI) are reflected in the chromed trailers.
I don't think that in graphic performance players trucks are worse than the AI trucks. In both cases the reflections are limited to the shape and color of the truck, basically.
I think the correct thing would be that all (or none) will be reflected. Perhaps it could be selected next to the graphic options: No reflections, low reflections or high quality reflections.
It's frustrating to go behind a chrome trailer and see that the truck behind us is reflected in the chromed trailers, but not see our reflection (we become an "invisible truck").
