Lift Axles turn when raised [NOT A BUG]

#1 Post by benakbs » 11 Aug 2018 02:13

Tried this on several different trucks, the lift axles turn with the steer axle when they are raised

Thanks for your report, but this is correct behaviour (and it has also been reported).

Between the front and middle axle, there is a mechanical connection, what you are seeing, like Morrelo says is correct

When the axis is raised when turning it will cling to the wing.

Well on the MAN it's hydraulic... so when It's lifted it shall not turn :?

Not really:

The fact is, that it can be different on each truck, even within the same brand. We've decided to choose this variant.

before the open beta i had an DAF XF 105 with liftable and steerable axle.
when it was lifted it didn´t turn.
how this truck works under open beta i can´t test, cause it´s on a second profile with ProMods map.

in real life will exist different systems. mechanical, that will turn ever and hydraulical that will not turn if the axle is lifted.
the selection of the used system is caused by the construction of the truck. if the wheels have covers that can be damaged when turning lifted axles, a hydraulical system will be used.

how will scs solve the liftable and steerable axles? is there one system for all trucks ingame? or is there an option to use different systems?

if all trucks use the same system scs should make the axles not to turn when lifted.

if different systems can be used on different trucks, scs should use propper variants.

Well that's because it's a 6x2/2 I'm thinking of... sorry for the mess!

Maybe they should add a "steer_raised[]: true" entry in the chassis defs. That way you can make the wheels steer based on the truck model and not a global one for all method? ;)

They should have just added one more chassis option, and then we would have one that is mechanical and probably different or no mud fender at all so that mud fender can not be "damaged"(in this case clipped by a wheel), and hydraulic that keeps wheel straight when raised. That way they would satisfy every person and keep themselves from overload of reports about steerable lifted axle.
