Re: Event rewards, new paintjobs

#402 Post by Esproquet » 19 Mar 2021 19:37

Hello there, I had this draft since December 13, I postponed it because I had some ideas in mind and I eventually forgot about it until you published 2 new paintjobs. So, here are some ideas in case you want to make additional paintjobs or cabin accesories for a release event. The ideas were about post-release stuff, a couple of map, guide of roads, tips for new people in Spain... The most important info about the blog entries, Spain itself & driving through Spain in just a flyer.

In case you were thinking of rewards for a possible Iberian release event, you can make use of the famous Iberian horses. These horses were very expensive and desired among generals, marshals, kings and emperors from many nations since the 15th century. It was like a Rolls Royce without wheels, or more likely a Ferrari, since you could get killed riding one of them if you were not expert enough.

Here are some of the most well-known Iberian horse breeds:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... rse_breeds

There's even an association and journal in the US about these horses:
https://ialha.org/
http://theiberianhorse.online/

Image

The most famous Spanish horse is the PURA RAZA (PRE: pura raza española) or ANDALUSIAN, they've been brought up since the 8th century, particularly around the city of Córdoba (imported from Arabia and mixed with the best local horses), and ever since has been used to breed and create new variants of horses all over the world. It's used by the Royal Guard, shows and the Olympics.
Image

The Portuguese one ( LUSITANO ) is widely used in Spain in bullfighting.

ALTERNATIVE IDEAS
================
Artists:
Gerkina (1937, Pablo Picasso)
Image

May 3rd in Madrid (1814, Francisco Goya). This picture is important because it represents an historic milestone, the people stood together against the foreign invader (Napoleon's Grand Armée) and started to build the modern state and the redaction of the first constitution (1808).

The persistance of Time (1931, Salvador Dalí)

Las Meninas (1656, Diego de Velázquez)

DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA (Don Quixote, Don Alonso Quijano)

CHARGING THE MILLS (he thought they were evil giants)

It's the epitome of noble warrior with lofty ideals in the middle of a very unclassy & filthy world (a madman, some may say) his buckler, Sancho, was the antagonist character.

=====
It is difficult to search for symbols that haven't been used as a paintjob, there's plenty of cultural diversity around. You can try the regional symbology:

Sagrada Familia (Barcelona)
Image

Castellers (Catalan tradition)
Image

Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao)
Image

Cathedral-Mosque of Córdoba
Image

The Alhambra & Sierra Nevada (Granada)
Image

The Acueduct of Segovia
Image

Iberian Art: The lady of Elche (La dama de Elche, Elche, Alicante)
Image

Toledo old town (a nice homage since it seems Toledo is not going to be shonw in game). It was also the capital of the visigoth kingdom during the Middle Ages.
Image

City of arts & Sciences (Valencia)
Image

Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela
Image

Sanfermines
Image

Tomatina
Image

Sun & Beach
Image

Some other cabin accesories for the cabin would be food related: like a small paella, some traditional food, an Osborne bull, an Iberian ham...

More ideas (El Cid Campeador)

#403 Post by Esproquet » 21 Mar 2021 19:23

El Cid was a very famous warrior of the Middle Ages, he fought important battles, he was banished then fought for the Iberian muslim kingdoms (taifas) then he conquered cities to request royal pardon... A true medieval knight who lived a life worth of the best Mount & Blade game.

His name means "the Lord" in Arabic. It's important because his feats were recorded in the first text ever written in Spanish language and his life has been brought to the big screens by Charlton Heston & recently to a couple of TV serials (the last one in Amazon).

The legend says that he won his last battle after dead (apparently they tied his corpse to his horse, arised his sword (Tizona) and spurred his horse (Babieca) to charge the enemies).

The episodes have many good images of monuments dedicated to the Spanish hero. In addition to other historical curiosities and images, it is an interesting research tip, for those who like to learn history. It also allows SCS Software to know some more monuments for the ETS2 map.

There are some inconsistencies/errors with the road signs in the DLC.

That road sign doesn't exists in Spain.

Image

Should be replaced for this one (S-52c):
https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo ... l_s52c.svg
Image
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Acceleration lanes (wrong use - sign S-52)

That sign should be removed in these cases. These lanes are acceleration lanes used to incorporate the traffic to the Autovía/Autopista.

ImageImage
Image

This is a correct use of this sign (well, here the arrows are missing, but ok):
Image
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deceleration lanes (wrong use - sign S-61b)

This is a deceleration lane, no need to have that sign.
ImageImage

These two examples are the correct implementation:

Image
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Missing sign - Emergency brake lane (sign S-16)
