The Republican Pass

The Republican pass, also sometimes referred to as Haimboaz is another pass that connects North(from Veliko Turnovo) and South Bulgaria. It is essentially a faster, albeit less scenic alternative to the Shipka pass. It also the first pass to be constructed in the country, started in the early 50s. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/43.0420 ... m2!4m1!3e0

- One of the reasons it's faster than Shipka, and other passes such as the Rishki or Varbishki pass, is that it has stretches of road with 3 lanes. 'Ownership' of the mid lane changes every few kilometers: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.9534724 ... 312!8i6656

- There are several villages on the pass, however, the one that stands out is the village of Voneshta Voda (almost literally translates to 'Smelly water' ): https://www.google.com/maps/place/5035+ ... 25.6435168
= There are a few more villages on the Southern side which are characterized by being built entirely around the road, though they don't have the interesting name.

- The highest point of the pass has a restaurant and a memorial stone that reads: 'Built by the Bulgarian people': https://www.google.com/maps/@42.7972987 ... 312!8i6656
= Near the 'Region Stara Zagora' sign, there is also a more obscure sign that reads: Държавно Горско Стопанство - Гурково; State Forestry Bureau - Gurkovo (town): https://www.google.com/maps/@42.7973497 ... 312!8i6656

- The most epic structure, in terms of trucking, however, if the truck stop at Kilifarevo (norther side). Not only is it colossal in size, but it even has a display area, featuring fighter jets and retro cars: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0001604 ... 312!8i6656

Hey guys, long time no see ;)

We are really grateful for all the tips, suggestions and researches. It helped us to create things we couldn't think of on our own and also to find solution to problems we had to begin with.

If you guys are up for it, now we would need something more specific. We need more references for road events, that means crashes, road repairs, people caught speeding or anything similar that you would see when driving down the road.
These things are not too easy to find, and we need to be sure it's from Bulgaria, so not just any random image will do. Something found on google streetview would be perfect, for the simple reason that we can see the thing from multiple angles.
Thanks to anyone in advance who will join the search [ external image ]

Car crashes are, unfortunately, too common in Bulgaria. Usually their duties are handled by the traffic police. Here is a news report that features them: https://nova.bg/news/view/2019/08/06/25 ... рофи-у-нас

The crashed vehicles are towed to the emergency lane but often times there isn't room for that. This usually happens on the small two-way roads. In these situations, the crashed vehicles are pulled into one lane, while the other one is used to resume the flow of traffic.

IMPORTANT: temporary traffic lights are NOT used in this case. Rather, they use traffic police officers with signs. Green on one side (for go) and Red on the other side (to stop). There is one officer on each side and they usually keep in contact with one another via a walkie talkie. This allows for a much effective control over the traffic flow.

The same is true for construction works. Again, no temporary traffic lights, only human traffic-controllers. In the case for construction, however, they don't use police officers but just regular workers. The principle remains the same.

Here is a news story about a truly epic situation: https://btvnovinite.bg/bulgaria/zatvarj ... aseta.html

A truck carrying pigs flipped over; animals escaped; road closed while police tries to round up the piglets.

This has happened quite a few times (much more than it should) and I specifically remember the one from a few months ago where an entire village on the Ruse-Varna route had to be closed off in order to capture the escaped pigs.

In other words, imagine seing a closed off stretch of road with a flipped over truck and a whole bunch of escaped piglets nearby. The truck wouldn't be able to touch them of course, but we might see some police officer trying to hurdle them back.

Now that RttBS is out, I figured I'd write a post concerning a potential road inclusion. This is a road that I've driven by countless times, but never thought to write a post since I figured there would be no room for it. As it turned out, there is enough room for it to fit perfectly.

The Rish Pass:

Named after the village of Rish, the pass covers this area: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/43.3426 ... 4c!1m0!3e0
The main purpose of this road is to provide a more direct route from Ruse to Burgas and vice versa; without having to pass through Varna or the often heavy traffic at Haimboaz (Republican pass). As such, it is the perfect road for Heavy Cargo and Special Transports.

- Realistically, a Heavy or Special Cargo will cause huge traffic jams on the highway between Varna and Burgas; Haimboaz might be an alternative, but since it is the most direct route through the Balkan mountain, and having an extra lane, there is often way too much truck traffic and having a Special Transport on that road would lead to a lot of unhappy drivers. The Rish pass also offers a perfect middle ground as an area with less traffic but also, only two lanes.

- Both exits to the pass are in the game. These include:
= Junction at Belokopino: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/43.3454 ... m2!4m1!3e0
= The exit at Aytos: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/42.7047 ... m2!4m1!3e0
- The town of Aytos itself, which would be a scenic town in this case, is also partially mapped.
= In the distance (when driving on the in-game highway), one could even see something that looks like this building: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.7038185 ... 312!8i6656

In terms of landmarks in the unmapped area, two things stand out:
- A hotel and restaurant that can also be a rest stop; it also has a wooden bridge over the river where guests can sit and have their meal: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.8875819 ... 312!8i6656
- Triangle shapes due to the railway tunnel underneath (I think I saw a similar asset in Turkey): https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1637966 ... 312!8i6656

In terms of scenic villages; Veselinovo would be a good choice for it's trucker friendly area: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.9834371 ... 312!8i6656

The rest is all scenic mountains and forrests. :)

What i dont understand is that road number 1 from Montana to Botevgrad was not included. We got the 81 instead, which is a mountain road that trucks choose not to take. Road 1 is the logical choice for lorries traveling in transit...
I think there was room for both aswell, but might be mistaken.

Now that we have Quick Travel that necessitates having a service station, one key Bulgarian city is left out (not that I'm biased or anything), that being Ruse. Since release, it has been the only Bulgarian city with a garage but without a service station. Now seems like the perfect time to introduce one and, fortunately, there is a location that would fit perfectly, without requiring major mapping plans.

Introducing the DAP: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.8220742 ... 312!8i6656

It provides spare parts for cars and trucks, and it's major purpose is to provide yearly technical checkups to trucks. Seems like the perfect location for a Service station to me. ;) (seriously, look to the right of the building and count the trucks waiting in line)

The best part is it's location. It is just down the street from the in-game garage.
The Bulmarket label is the location of the garage: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Trabeks ... 210235!3e0

The location of the in-game garage:

In terms of landmarks, the only thing of note are these, rather large towers: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.822094, ... 312!8i6656

All things considered, it might be the perfect location for a service station. :)
