Re: Event rewards, new paintjobs

#402 Post by Esproquet » 19 Mar 2021 19:37

Hello there, I had this draft since December 13, I postponed it because I had some ideas in mind and I eventually forgot about it until you published 2 new paintjobs. So, here are some ideas in case you want to make additional paintjobs or cabin accesories for a release event. The ideas were about post-release stuff, a couple of map, guide of roads, tips for new people in Spain... The most important info about the blog entries, Spain itself & driving through Spain in just a flyer.

In case you were thinking of rewards for a possible Iberian release event, you can make use of the famous Iberian horses. These horses were very expensive and desired among generals, marshals, kings and emperors from many nations since the 15th century. It was like a Rolls Royce without wheels, or more likely a Ferrari, since you could get killed riding one of them if you were not expert enough.

Here are some of the most well-known Iberian horse breeds:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... rse_breeds

There's even an association and journal in the US about these horses:
https://ialha.org/
http://theiberianhorse.online/

[ external image ]

The most famous Spanish horse is the PURA RAZA (PRE: pura raza española) or ANDALUSIAN, they've been brought up since the 8th century, particularly around the city of Córdoba (imported from Arabia and mixed with the best local horses), and ever since has been used to breed and create new variants of horses all over the world. It's used by the Royal Guard, shows and the Olympics.

The Portuguese one ( LUSITANO ) is widely used in Spain in bullfighting.

ALTERNATIVE IDEAS
================
Artists:
Gerkina (1937, Pablo Picasso)
[ external image ]

May 3rd in Madrid (1814, Francisco Goya). This picture is important because it represents an historic milestone, the people stood together against the foreign invader (Napoleon's Grand Armée) and started to build the modern state and the redaction of the first constitution (1808).
[ external image ]

The persistance of Time (1931, Salvador Dalí)
[ external image ]

Las Meninas (1656, Diego de Velázquez)
[ external image ]

DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA (Don Quixote, Don Alonso Quijano)

CHARGING THE MILLS (he thought they were evil giants)

Riding the Iberian steppe and badlands
[ external image ]

It's the epitome of noble warrior with lofty ideals in the middle of a very unclassy & filthy world (a madman, some may say) his buckler, Sancho, was the antagonist character.
[ external image ]

=====
It is difficult to search for symbols that haven't been used as a paintjob, there's plenty of cultural diversity around. You can try the regional symbology:

Sagrada Familia (Barcelona)
[ external image ]

Castellers (Catalan tradition)
[ external image ]

Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao)
[ external image ]

Cathedral-Mosque of Córdoba
[ external image ]

The Alhambra & Sierra Nevada (Granada)
[ external image ]

The Acueduct of Segovia
[ external image ]

Iberian Art: The lady of Elche (La dama de Elche, Elche, Alicante)
[ external image ]

Toledo old town (a nice homage since it seems Toledo is not going to be shonw in game). It was also the capital of the visigoth kingdom during the Middle Ages.
[ external image ]

City of arts & Sciences (Valencia)
[ external image ]

Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela
[ external image ]

Sanfermines
[ external image ]

Tomatina
[ external image ]

Sun & Beach
[ external image ]

Some other cabin accesories for the cabin would be food related: like a small paella, some traditional food, an Osborne bull, an Iberian ham...

More ideas (El Cid Campeador)

#403 Post by Esproquet » 21 Mar 2021 19:23

El Cid was a very famous warrior of the Middle Ages, he fought important battles, he was banished then fought for the Iberian muslim kingdoms (taifas) then he conquered cities to request royal pardon... A true medieval knight who lived a life worth of the best Mount & Blade game.

His name means "the Lord" in Arabic. It's important because his feats were recorded in the first text ever written in Spanish language and his life has been brought to the big screens by Charlton Heston & recently to a couple of TV serials (the last one in Amazon).

The legend says that he won his last battle after dead (apparently they tied his corpse to his horse, arised his sword (Tizona) and spurred his horse (Babieca) to charge the enemies).

There are some inconsistencies/errors with the road signs in the DLC.

That road sign doesn't exists in Spain.

[ external image ]

Should be replaced for this one (S-52c):
https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo ... l_s52c.svg
[ external image ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Acceleration lanes (wrong use - sign S-52)

That sign should be removed in these cases. These lanes are acceleration lanes used to incorporate the traffic to the Autovía/Autopista.

[ external image ][ external image ]
[ external image ]

This is a correct use of this sign (well, here the arrows are missing, but ok):
[ external image ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deceleration lanes (wrong use - sign S-61b)

This is a deceleration lane, no need to have that sign.
[ external image ][ external image ]

These two examples are the correct implementation:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Missing sign - Emergency brake lane (sign S-16)

At the border of Le Perthus, the Spain sign is raised, then there are video surveillance gates, details that are unfortunately not present in Vanilla

At the tollgate of La Jonquera on AP-7, it is specified that there are signs for cars and trucks, this detail is not present in vanilla

Zaragoza-Pau (via the somport tunnel)

[ external image ]

To create a connection to the Somport tunnel, the A-23 (E-7) motorway must be extended. This selection represents 138km (IRL) and passes through the city of Huesca, capital of the province of Aragon to end at Jaca and merged with the N-330 (E-7) (image below), the N-330a allows access to the city centre from the east or to join the N-240 to go to Pamplona
localisation: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.5665291 ... 592,18.13z
[ external image ]
Merges autovia with N-330

then the road merges with the N-330 (E-7), continuing for another 20km (IRL) you will find the entrance to the Somport tunnel with the French border in the middle
just before the tunnel this building: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.7348886 ... 312!8i6656
[ external image ]
tunnel entrance on the Spanish side

the crossing takes about 8 kilometres from quay to quay (IRL)
Somport road tunnel|Wikipedia (in French language because more complete) video of the road tunnel (France to Spain)

Once on the French side it is another 48 kilometres to the charming town of Oloron-Sainte-Marie (the road is now called N-134) the road goes along the Gave d'Aspe river
route national 134|Wikipedia (also in French)

this video shows the selection from the commune of Asasp-Arros to the city centre of Pau (forbidden to 7,5 tons)
location of minute 14:34 of the video: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.2811667,-0.3875541,19z

to create a realistic Pau, it would be necessary to create the bypass (D-802), the connection with the A-64 motorway is made either to the west or east of the city

Other abstaining from signing:

the recommended maximum speed signs (S-7) (S-8)

It recommends an approximate driving speed, in kilometres per hour, which should not be exceeded, even if the weather and environmental conditions of the road and traffic are favourable. When placed below a hazard warning sign, the recommendation refers to the section where the hazard persists.

It is recommended to maintain the speed between the values indicated, provided that the weather and environmental conditions of the road and traffic are favourable. When placed below a hazard warning sign, the recommendation refers to the section where the hazard persists.
