Could someone please write with more details about Coimbra's industry, logistics and transports? I feel somewhat confused in trying to grasp a potential map of that city, the industrial zones seems too far from the center. For those near Coimbra, does that city also features heavy truck traffic on its primary and secondary roads like Leiria?

It is probably known, but I will mention it, just in case - Portugal is in the UTC+1 timezone during the summer, the same as Britain and different from Spain and France. The abbreviation used is WEST (Western European Summer Time), and is equivalent to BST.

Also, Lisbon is the only city in Iberia that has a Hungarian name: Lisszabon. For all other cities, we use their native name.

On this PDF you can see the average traffic numbers of the Portuguese highway network in 2020 by total vehicles per day.

No wonder almost every time anyone looks to the windows of my college facing the highway (A19 after the merge with N1/IC2, also called Real-life Duisburg-Calais on TruckersMP), they see at least a truck 99% of the time.

(edited: changed the PDF to display data from the last available period instead of 2017. For all the data periods, visit this link)

Covilhã - Portugal.

We will briefly share economic information for future additions to the map of Portugal. Portugal, has in Covilhã, the largest wool fabric company in the Iberian Peninsula, one of the largest in Europe in this sector. The company produces woolen textile products, is one of Portugal's major exporters, and also serves the country's domestic market. The company is one of the 3 largest companies in the wool textile production sector in Europe. Has a consolidated network of more than 2,000 customers, distributed across Europe. The basic raw material, sheep's wool, is purchased in the country of Portugal. Portuguese shepherds have, for many centuries, raised sheep specialized in wool production, particularly the merino breed that is native to the Iberian Peninsula. Currently the world's largest producer is controversial; between New Zealand and Australia in the lead. The merino sheep breed also helps with wool production in South America; Argentina and Uruguay, lead the production, with some other significant production but on a smaller scale (Southern region) Brazil and Chile. The United States and Canada also have some wool production.

I expected the Portuguese clothing and textiles industry to be concentrated near Braga. I was surprised to see those near Guarda.

By the way, should we continue the thread? I think i need to make several additions or revisions to some things i posted here

Yes, the Textile Industry in Portugal is concentrated between '' Guarda '' and another area in the region of Braga, also and in the middle of that region there are companies that carry out the recycling of used clothing and have established a national network for the collection of used clothing. very interesting.

I think it is very important that we continue research on Portugal. Perhaps a topic can be redirected as '' re search '' because there are many things that are missing or can be supplemented in the future for the map. This involves economic activities, highways, landscapes, monuments.

Note that the map of Spain has approximately 42 pages of research, and we are only 13. There are a lot of things left out.

Some important infrastructure projects to be developed in Portugal this decade include:

- High speed rail projects from Lisbon to Porto, Porto to Vigo and Lisbon to Madrid, which would include the construction of a third bridge between the two already represented in the game
- An crossing which allows drivers to go from IC9 to A1. This is supposed to eliminate the necessity of going near the center of Fátima to make this transiction. The site is currently on study, with the most possible places being the current intersection between those roads in Chainça, southeast Leiria, or a little south in São Mamede, in the Batalha municipality.
- Expansion of IC5 until the Spanish border in Miranda do Douro, making a northwest-to-northeast trespassing of Portugal possible
- New electrical towers to power the high speed trains and reinforce the distribution of electricity
- A new airport in Montijo and a new road connecting Montijo to Setúbal
- Road improvements in IC2 north of Lisbon, south of Coimbra and inside Leiria
- Improvements to accessibility in the Lisbon airport
- Conclusion of IP8 between Sines and Beja (the layout of the road to be completed is already drawn and can be found on Google Maps - construction actually started near Azinheira dos Barros)~
- A new container terminal in the Port of Sines
- A new terminal in the Port of Leixões (Porto)
- Improved overall capacities in the ports of Lisbon, Setúbal and Aveiro
- Creation of a logistics zone and improved road access to the port of Figueira da Foz
- Creation of equipments to receive passenger and recreational ships in the port of Viana do Castelo
- Expansion of the wind farms in Viana do Castelo
- Construction of a hydrogen production unit in Sines
- Recovery of deforested cork oak and holly oak areas, planting of new areas of those trees to prevent desertification.
- Development of sustainable aquaculture
- Expansion and improvement of the passenger terminal in the Faro airport
