let's talk a little more about cork in Portugal

Montado and agricultural trailer loading.
This video is very interesting because it shows the extraction of the bark from the trees called 'sombrero" and the type of forest is called "montado". We can then see the extractivists carefully carrying out the removal of the barks in a sustainable way without harming the trees and also the work of organization of the gears that will be selected by tractors to be transported, to the place where it will be stored in piles arranged in the form of rows then transferred to the semi-trailer trucks that transported him to the processing plant.

Tractor transport cork
Probably the farmer is transporting a load of cork to his farm where it will be stored to have a transportable amount by truck so it is a very common scene probably for the region that produces cork in Portugal.
In this video we can see bales of cork.
interesting in this video is also to present some other types of products that can be manufactured with cork but what draws attention is really the bales of cork are very well shown and seriously so as an element that can be extracted to make loads on trucks or representations of the cork rows in the discharge areas

Unloading cork bales: cork truck.
This is a rare film about the unloading of processed cork and a pressed bales being discharged to a processing industry. This should not be confused with the previous video that shows the bales assembled from the bark of the cork extracted from the trees and which is then directly exited from the zone. production for some processing plant.

Here we have a very interesting video about tourism in a factory for processing and manufacturing wine stoppers and sparkling wine stoppers in Portugal. It is also worth mentioning that it is a very explanatory video about the whole process and the chain related to cork and also allows several images that can be very useful for the DLC Iberia development and also constitutes knowledge for all of us players.

This video is very interesting because it shows some of the stages of processing cork in a traditional way in a small company and is subtitled in English so this can be very attractive for the community of players to learn a little more about this important sector of the Portuguese economy and production of vests and the manufacture of stoppers and seals and other products.

This is a company of french origin and operates in factories of cork stoppers and stoppers for wines and sparkling wines with its manufacturing units in Portugal Spain France and Italy Chile United States. Other several companies in the sector of production of cork stoppers are concentrated in some very small municipalities in Portugal, the unit of this company in the country is located in the city of: "Paços de Brandão".

The small cluster of highly industrial cities in the industrial cork processing sector, comprises the following small Portuguese municipalities: Paços de Brandão, Santa Maria de Lamas, Rio Meão, Mozelos. The cluster of small towns specialized in the processing of cork and industrialization in various types of products, especially stoppers and stoppers for sparkling wines, have as a road infrastructure:
  - highway A 29 also called IC1.
- IP1 highway, known internationally as the E1 highway.

These highways form the boundary where this urban-industrial agglomeration is very important for the Portuguese economy.
"Amorim Group" stands out among the manufacturers in the region and the "Laffite Group" are some of the largest producers in the world in cork processing and the manufacture of stoppers and closures.

We will leave here a very important research tip for SCS Software, the largest auto parts supplier in Europe and the Americas. Perhaps it is even the largest auto parts supplier in the world, I am talking about the company "Gestamp".
This company it was discovered why when researching cork processing factories we found in Google's Street View a Renault truck from the company transporting cargo on the N 4 highway in Portugal So there is a list of the factories on this link: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=277146&p=1360322#p1360322

Some places of interest that may be added as scenery in the map (UNESCO World Heritage sites in italic)

North:

The Rooster Roundabout in Barcelos (if Barcelos is featured, what may happen as a scenery town)
Castle of Guimarães (if Guimarães is featured, what may happen as a scenery town)
Castle of Bragança
Vila Real Bridge: one of the few structures in Portugal which height surpasses 200 meters.

Porto region:

Estádio do Dragão, home of FC Porto
Arrábida Bridge: this bridge connects both margins of the Douro river
Torre do Lidador: The tallest building outside Lisbon
Torre dos Clérigos: one of the symbols of Porto as a city

Center:
Batalha Monastery

Lisbon and region:
Pena Palace
The Vasco da Gama and 25th of April bridges, which link Lisboa and Setúbal. Both charge tolls on traffic heading to Lisbon, but not on traffic leaving Lisbon.
The Vasco da Gama, Monsanto, Saint Raphael and Saint Gabriel towers, Portugal's four highest skyscrapers
Sheraton Lisboa
Lezíria Bridge, the second longest bridge in Portugal and third longest in Europe. It's located outside the metropolitan area of Lisbon, allowing drivers from Porto to travel to Algarve without passing through Lisbon. Tolls are charged both ways.
The Cristo Rei of Almada, near the 25th of April bridge

East:
Garrison border town of Elvas and its fortifications (scenery town, Elvas is too close to Badajoz - which may be included as a city)
Proud student of Games and Multimedia in the Polytechnic of Leiria - the Portuguese capital of game development
(and still hopeful the city will feature in the game with a garage someday)

Good afternoon, we are here again to continue the research and information about the cork sector in Portugal.
I hope that this information can be useful for building the Iberia DLC idea.

[ external image ]
This image shows some location on a cork production farm that has the function of storing production waiting for trucks to transport to processing factories.

1
[ external image ]
Here we can see a truck leaving with a load of cork from some company.

2
[ external image ]
Some angles of trucks with cork load.

3
[ external image ]
Some angles of trucks with cork load.

4
[ external image ]
Some angles of trucks with cork load.

5
[ external image ]
Here we can see a truck with a trailer loaded with cork unloading in Spain. I am going to make a speculation:
This trailer has some rolling bottom that can cause the load of bales of cork to be unloaded automatically in the unloading yard. It is personal speculation.

6
[ external image ]
Here we can see a Spanish truck carrying cork. You can see what has a protective mesh at the top of the load.
So A the cargo is fixed by conveyor belts, something that until now in the images of trucks transporting cork in Portugal, I have not found in images.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

below some images of patios in the cork processing industries with the areas for unloading and external storage of cork for industrial processing

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/80/f0/60 ... ca9f7d.png

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can now move on to a slightly more noble cork load: cut cork.
(The loads shown above are those that leave the cork extraction farms, for the factories. Raw cork loads between industrial units in an industry for processing into more noble products such as wine corks and stoppers for sparkling drinks).

[ external image ]
Here is an example of cork carving and stored on pallets in a processing industry this product (can be transported to some specific processing unit for the production of wine and sparkling corks, in the case of large companies). In Portugal there are also specialized companies that work transforming the cork purchased in the extraction farms and processing classifying and storing to sell the stopper and stopper manufacturing industry for wine and sparkling drinks.

[ external image ]
In this image it is possible to see a palletized load of cut and standardized cork, being loaded in a truck trailer (to be used in some processing factory for the manufacture of wine corks and sparkling seals).

The following images are of loads of noble cork (best classification in sorting), already processed in being cut. This is; cork undergoes the process of trimming leaving it standardized as if "boards" were.
7.1
[ external image ]

7.2
[ external image ]

7.3
[ external image ]

The cut cork is transported in blocks of small bundles, which are tied by small plastic or metal straps (probably), in a reasonably uniform quantity. As you can see, the cargo in the trailer is fixed by steel cables to which everything allows to perceive. Is another way of transporting the product cork.
video shows in an accelerated camera the unloading process tu of a cart with bales of cork to be processed and transformed into wine or sparkling corks.

8
[ external image ]

We arrived ... Then finally the load of corks. that will be used in wine and sparkling wine factories.
The truck below is from the processing company called "Lafitte".

9
[ external image ]

My personal suggestion; for SCS Software is: "that this type of rigid chassis truck, pulling a trailer trailer (and transporting loads of corks for wine and sparkling wine factories)
to be included in the road traffic I.A of the game ETS2, DLC Iberia.

The objective would be to allow advertising by cork-making companies and cork processing in the DLC Iberia.
In addition to the curtains of the trailers which we would be using for transporting players, also of stoppers and seals.
So we could drive on the Portuguese and Spanish highways, and suddenly come across a truck of this type advertising some company licensed in this economic sector.

[ external image ]
Here we can see an example of a trailer and truck carrying a load of wine corks and sparkling wine stoppers, to some beverage processing factory (wines and sparkling wines).
The truck is leaving a cork processing plant directly for the industrial customer.

Some important references that may be useful for SCS Software on the subject of cork in Portugal:
1 Reference: This blog is extremely complete about the information regarding cork being written in the Portuguese language of Portugal. Has a lot of interesting information for the SCS Software team on the map of Portugal and the game mechanism for the theme of cork is advice and exploration of this blog.
Link: https://arteecork.webnode.pt/historia%2 ... ti%C3%A7a/
it is important to highlight here some topics that I will put in the title in Portuguese to facilitate localization:
1.1 empilhamento e comercialização de cortiça no montado, 1.2 transporte de cortiça , 1.3 empilhamento de cortiça no estaleiro.
Os processos industriais: 1.4 cozedura, 1.5 seleção da cortiça(It is very important because there are cork gauges and they are related to the quality of cork. And this has repercussions on the loading of cork in natural bales to be taken from the commercial companies to the factories of corks and sparkling seals), 1.6 enfardamento da cortiça, 1.7 escolha das rolhas, 1.8 rolhas capsuladas, 1.9 a rolha de champanhe ((Currently in the world of Portuguese-speaking countries, the expression champagne is being replaced by sparkling wines, due to the international product regional identification label, where "champagne" is one of the types of sparkling wines and specific to France. And other places in the world produce drinks with the same characteristic, but not with the same peculiarities of "terroir", and therefore; the most appropriate term to be called sparkling wine; "stoppers for sparkling wine"), 1.10 granulados de cortiça, 1.11 aglomerado negro.

2 Reference: the company "Correia Cork" is located industrial unit in Azaruja, Évora, transforms cork and sells cork in bales already prepared for the wine stopper and sparkling wine stopper industry. the research tip in this reference is to explore the different types of burden, and the different types of products cork, with quality from level 1 to level 5, also the image gallery and the transformation of cork in its various phases is interesting, to take a look there are photos there it has translation into spanish german and french this site. 3 Reference: the search tip Browse this website of the Portuguese company that produce specific packaging for the wine and sparkling wine stopper industry so here is my search tip on this link: https://www.dssmith.com/tecnicarton/kno ... wine-corks
the sparkling wine stopper industry basically uses two types of packaging the most common packaging is raffia or plastic bags however it also uses large corrugated cardboard boxes capable of holding 75,000 to 90,000 units of corks and having a front opening.

Just for information title (which can be useful for licensing purposes, and everything else, in the packaging area). The company has 7 industrial units in the Iberian Peninsula, as the map shows, it has its headquarters in Spain, located in the center of development and research in the city of Almussafes.
The other locations are industrial production units. Reference: https://www.dssmith.com/tecnicarton/abo ... innovation Map plats: https://www.dssmith.com/contentassets/6 ... a-blog.png

The roundabout with the largest cork monument in the world:
This is the monument that cannot be missing on the DLC Iberia map of Portugal.

CORUCHE, is also one of the biggest rice producers in Portugal. Therefore, the transportation of rice harvesters, agricultural implements, tractors is also a good and pleasant cargo option that may exist for this region of Portugal.
The transportation of rice harvesters, to the concessionaires that exist in the region. Transporting rice harvesters from dealerships to farms in this region would be very interesting on the game map. A new type of load on ETS 2. The minimum load requirement: the front or front tracks for the grain harvester, to be converted into a rice harvester by the farmer.

1.Corn The tip that would be the licensing of corn harvester for the ETS2 game.
The minimum load requirement would be to transport corn harvesting platforms. Because the common grain harvester can be converted to a corn harvester
For this to be possible the transport by truck of the corn plants to the concessionaires for sale of agricultural machinery.
Another cargo opportunity, in turn, is the transport from the concessionaire to the Farmer's farm, after being sold at the concessionaire, the corn platform.

2. Peas The suggestion here is also to evolve to ETS2 seeking licensing of the pea harvesters that exist in Europe and to make cargo flows to Portugal. I wouldn't be able to say in which country they are manufactured.

3. Tomatoes A game evolution tip ETS2: As Portugal and Spain produce a lot of tomatoes, as well as Italy, seek licensing with tomato harvesting plants in Italy, and make a load so that it can be delivered both on the map of Italy, and on the map of the Iberian Peninsula, France. Would be very interesting.

Stone House Penedo ( "Flinstones" house) - Casa do Penedo (portuguese)
Let's leave this research tip at the "Serra de fafe"; wind farm where the iconic Stone house is located. My tip as one of the local delivery options for: wind tower structures, wind turbines.

This Rock House is located in Fafe Mountain, 10 km northeast of the center of the county, in the direction of Cabeceiras de Basto.
The house is is located in a wind farm.

Wind Farm - Serras de Fafe It is in this park is the only one that is located the house of stones.

Proposed access route to the Wind Farm and Stone House.
The basic route is the use of the N311 highway. The urban ends of this route would be the city of Fafe, and the city of Cabeceiras de Basto.
