Tío Pepe: Osborne Bull arch-rival (and the donkey)

#352 Post by Esproquet » 29 Aug 2020 09:46

Another liquor company from Cádiz (Andalucía) had beautiful billboards all over the national geography, it was Tío Pepe, you've probably seen it in classic F-1 races from the 70s and 80s and in downtown Madrid. The 1988 Act meant that this flamenco bottles should abandon the roads for good... but fortunately they were also indulted.

These are mostly in Andalucía.

This cellar started to operate in the early 1830s and a century later created the symbol that we know today and got the first national trademark even though Osborne cellar was operating since 1772, being the latter the second oldest enterprise of the nation. Tío Pepe was established in Jerez de la Frontera while Osborne was in Puerto de Santa María.

SEAT 600 PICTURES

History
If they don't include a SEAT 600, at least the could include a Pegaso (or even a Barreiros), the other day I overtook one, it had the horses livery.

Is that pegasus livery on Iveco trucks a tribute to Pegaso?

Yes. More specifically, I think the livery was put on the first generation of Ivecos built on the former Pegaso factories when the company was takeover by Iveco.

Iveco bought Enesa, the owner of Pegaso, in 1990.

That article mentions that the Spanish factory is the only one for Iveco heavy trucks in all Europe. Back in 1992 maybe but is it that way still today? I would had expected for Iveco to have at least part of such production in Italy

According to Spanish wikipedia, yes. But following the English version, the Stralis is also produced in Torino. The Italian wiki doesn't confirm this last fact :?:

There are other heavy truck plants in Russia, Ethiopia, Brazil and Argentina. In Italy they produce under other brands or specific vehicles.

As Ladoga seems too much russian :D the spanish car factories could take one of these names:

- Reno (from Renault)

- Pelo (from Opel)

- Seta (from Seat)

- Trocine (from Citroën)

- Dorf (from Ford)

Adding a sun as logo, like Mirosol gas stations (or a bull), and you got it.

:D :D :D

That "seta" really killed me (is the word for "fungus" in Spanish).

I will never again been able to see a SEAT and not think in a kart for Toad.
