Yes this is only a temporary workaround but as I said the devs are looking into it. What they can do is reduce the amount of data that is sent to the wheel. It seems like there are some redundant events that are flooding the driver. Try repeating an experiment I did: drive slowly towards an obstacle turning your wheel rapidly to the left and to the right causing the whole truck to shake. Then hit the obstacle - you will notice that there is already a few seconds of delay before the collision feedback kicks in. My suspicion is that while the whole truck is shaking there is a lot of FFB events send to the steering wheel because dampers are working pretty hard - but these events are meaningless as you can't actually notice them. It may be that the game send these events on every dampers action, even the smallest ones, not only when you hit a curb or something of that magnitude.

@Harven I would guess those dampers would also be involved in tyre/brakes calcs as well? Perhaps some 'un-necessarily' sent to s/wheel.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.

Ive had weird issues with my wheel since coming back to ETS and ATS using a TX wheel which was it would go really stiff and then just vibrate like mad even on the menus and the only fix was to move a slider but i think i found out that its the dampner slider as ive turned it right off and i aint had it since.

As @Frate said, I also use Windows Professional edition, I'm sorry I didn't mention it before, but I don't think it would have any effect. There is a minimal difference between Windows 10 and Windows 10 Pro since version 2004 (except for enterprise features).

I checked the versions of the steering wheel drivers on my PC.

Code: Select all

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\tmhidusb.sys - 2.10.10 (©2017)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tmeffcpl.dll - 1.61.0.0 (©2010-2017)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tmInstall.exe - 1.3.7.0 (©2017)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tmpid.dll - 2.10.10 (©2015)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\TmRimUpdate.dll - 1.8.9.0 (©2017)
C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\tmeffcpl.dll - 1.61.0.0 (©2010-2017)
C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\tmpid.dll - 2.10.10 (©2015)
C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\TmRimUpdate.dll - 1.8.9.0 (©2017)
Thrustmaster TMX Racing Wheel Control Panel (64-bit) reports:

Code: Select all

Package: 2.TTRS.2020
Firmware: 15
Driver: 2.10.10.0
Thrustmaster Firmware Updater (3.2.13) reports:

Code: Select all

Thrustmaster TMX Racing Wheel - Ver.: 15
Firmware: Ver.:15 - 06/04/2020 - TMXFFB_LM4F_v15.tmf
Since the latest versions of the drivers in my system are from 2017, I do not assume that they have changed, so the error must have occurred in the game. Maybe as @room217au said

Just spent about 20min driving around testing out the FFB in ATS on my TMX wheel where I've had problems for months. Turned the dampers down to zero and it worked perfectly! Thank you all for the awesome troubleshooting, at least now we have a viable work-around until it gets totally fixed.

Setting dumper ("suspensión por force feedback"in spanish) to 0 in the ffb settings of ETS2 or ATS seems that solve my problem with my T150 pro too.

Thanks.

Hi guys...
Just thought I'd copy and paste what I reported as a bug in the 'ATS v1.40beta'.

In all the v1.40betas and latest also...

Force feedback is taking a considerable amount of time to go back to normal after leaving a rough road.
I know that when going from rough terrain back to a normal road, the FFB will continue until the trailer is back on the normal road. np's with that.

But i gotta' say, even although the trailers have been on the normal road for a while, sometimes +20-30seconds and sometimes longer, the FFB
continues as if your still on the rough road. Pressing escape does not stop it either.
You need to escape and to go controls > uncheck and recheck Forcefeedback, it is only then it stops.

The main problem with that is...
If you have to take a real phone call, or deal with a family matter while in ATS and press esc...
if you happen to be on a rough road or terrain, the FFB goes on indefinitely in the pause menu.
The only remedy is again > options > control > ffb uncheck and recheck, or change one of the ffb sliders to another value.

Guys I'm sorry...
I don't know if this FFB was introduced or is a known characteristic of v1.38/1.39, since I came straight over to the v1.40beta from ATSv1.37

ps. happening in all the dirt roads I've been on, in all the 'vanilla and dlc' US States - I am Not using mods and that particular profile is new and clean.
I Apologise if this has already been reported/mentioned. I searched multiple terms and could not find anything linked.

Setting the damper to Zero is not an option for me. I really need to feel it, it's a neccessity.
Without damper, FFB is lifeless and feels like a stinky 'spring force' wheel. Not good.

Fyi... I'm using Win10pro 20H2.

I am experiencing the same issue with my Thrustmaster T150 on ATS/ETS2 1.40.

I have had the same problem. But I fixed it😁. If you wait with plugging your wheel into the pc until you're in the game, and then connect it the problem get solved. You can even turn on your dampers after that. I think the game detects the wheel in a better way that way. Idk why tho.

Wheel: tx leather edition

Edit: nope that only worked a little while and the problem returned.
