Re: Stuttering with own trailer

So starting in Everett (I think, north-west Washington, anyway), I blew right past Boise and Twin Falls before I knew it. By the time I noticed some stuttering, I was approaching Ogden. I pulled over to the shoulder and exited the game. As usual, if I've been running the game for a lengthy period, it takes quite awhile to close down completely, sometimes even my screens go blank for a minute or two as it clears out RAM. And quite possibly the Windows swap file.

When I started up again, there was no stuttering.

What I should have tried — I will try it next time — is make a save-game point when the stuttering starts, keep driving through the stuttering, and when it eases up, quit the game. Then restart and reload the save-game point, see if there is stuttering through the same drive with a fresh start.

Anybody try disabling the Windows swap file wile running ETS2/ATS? Put the swap file on a secondary SSD drive?

@MrAbner Hmm strange. I don't have any problem in ATS with own trailer. I drive K100E and have over milion miles and no stutter. In ETS right now I'm testing with multiple trucks but still same. Stutter ocures all time.

@JankoPL I'm quite convinced my ATS stuttering is simply running out of RAM (one would think six billion bytes of RAM would be plenty, but, alas, not these days), and when RAM is maxed out, Windows will start swapping out chunks to the swap file on the hard drive. And Windows is trying to use the swap file because ATS is at the same time trying to load new data. From the same hard drive. Not a good combination.

I'm thinking of trying to disable the swap file when running ATS. Any Windows 7 experts out there?

Ideally, I should buy more RAM, or at the very least (even better, both), pick up a solid-state drive and put the Windows swap file on that.

More video RAM would be good, too, but it seems good video cards are hard to find these days. :(

I'm obviously missing some code... simply adding the @ in front of a user name is not enough to generate a notification. What am I doing wrong?

Something to try is to set your monitor and gfx's card at 60Hz, but the game at 59Hz with v/sync enabled. Just a thought that may help.

No microlags while playing 2h on standalone module Fikcyjna Polska, so this is pushing the theory that promods could have a big impact on this whole story...

Though the team try to be within specific thresholds the map expansion is not as pleaseent as you'd like on older less spec'ed computers

This signature virus has been spliced with the Fundementalism-B virus to create a new more contagious strain. Please look for it infecting a signature near you.

True (less spec'ed computers). However, I do have these stutters on promods (while on single play only, not on multiplay!) on a I7 11700K, 64Gb RAM, a 1Tb M2 SSD and a RTX 3060 video card. Would say thats not really low specs..

Try this startup parameter: -mm_max_resource_size 80 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -mm_pool_size 16384

-mm_pool_size 1024 [2GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 2048 [4GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 4096 [6GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 6144 [8GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 8192 [12GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 12288 [16GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 16384 [24GB Ram]
-mm_pool_size 24576 [32GB Ram]

-64bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_pool_size 16384 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000
